I have uploaded some pictures of the painted parts installed right and left; parts were painted Silver Metallic.

I replaced the missing nozzle with a BMW one sourced on Ebay.

Once the prototype is complete and tested for fitment I will be offering the parts for sale (left or right).
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am solving two problems. I have disabled the headlight washers by removing the fuse; of course this is after the caps flew off while driving.
I am also solving the problem of paying $65+ dollars for new washer nozzles with the "cheap" cap just to replace the cap.
So I am having a 3D printing company engineer a prototype and produce the caps for me from ABS plastic.
Once the prototype is complete and tested for fitment I will be offering the parts for sale (left or right).
Let me know if you are interested in some new caps for your 996.
I will keep you "cats" posted. Spread the word to those victims of fly-away Porsche parts. I have been around 911's (1977 911S Targa, 1979 991SC Targa and 85 911SC Cab) since I was a kid and its the worst bit of Porsche engineering I have seen.
Thanks. I am expecting two weeks for renderings and a 3D virtual prototype. One more week for a scale proto to test fitment and test drive.
I will keep you posted.
Hey guys, check out this 3-D rendering of the new part.

Doing some touchups today and will get final cost for producing in high resolution ABS.
Very cool looking. I just realized this isn't the same as mine. I have a '99 with the factory litronic lights. There is no round cap, just two nozzles that stick out. My nozzles are gone.
Exactly what I need... washers work fine on mine but caps dont look so great after a bad attempt at someone trying to polish the headlights without masking off the washer caps. Definitely interested in 2 caps once available. Thanks for helping the community with this!
Thanks to all for responding. I want to remind all interested in these custom parts. My effort here is to create a custom part that serves the purpose of covering the spray nozzle. At this point I am not making these parts to correct the engineering design defect (part flies off at speed) built into the Porsche assembly.
I will be testing my new custom parts for fitment. And I intend to test drive them at highway speeds.
But I am recommending that the use of my part requires the headlight washers to be disabled by removing the fuse. I have done this on my 2003 C4 Cab.
Please let me know your thoughts.
Gentlemen,
Prototypes are done. Fitment is excellent on both new nozzles (c. 2018) and original nozzles (c. 2003).
Tomorrow I will test drive at 100 mph. Please see the uploaded photos.

Side by side comparison.
I plan on selling them unfinished so they can be painted to a color of choice. The outside facing surface is as smooth as glass.
A good quality paint will also provide some protection from UVL.
I would be interested in buying two sets (2 left and 2 right), but don't want to pay $8.25 shipping for each one - can you PM me with a way to do this?
I have uploaded some pictures of the painted parts installed right and left; parts were painted Silver Metallic. Wanted to give everyone an idea how this project is coming along. I have production parts underway.
I am very pleased with how these have turned out. Fabricator has recommended proper primer and paint required to provide UV protection for the ABS plastic.
High quality or automotive quality primer and paint is recommended.

Incredible work, congratulations! Even though I don't need a set now, it's good to know you have a good alternative.
I must say though, I think you will sell 4X of these at a higher price if you can figure out a way to offer them with a chrome finish.
I am researching chrome plating. It is a costly process. Per item price would be significantly higher. I may offer them chromed or primed for painting at different price points. Thanks for the feedback.
Why not just wrap them? Chrome wrap is pretty hard to tell from the real thing these days...and you're chroming a plastic part, not metal.

For the cost difference, I might just stand out a bit from OEM and go with something like a Satin Aluminum.

I am in the early stages of this project so all options are being considered. I have considered vinyl wrapping but I would likely leave that to the car owner. The plastic requires UV protection so I have settled on a high quality primer for UV protection and let each car owner determine their finish of choice. Vinyl, paint, etc.
That chrome vinyl product looks promising.
Thanks for the feedback. I am really pleased how the parts have turned out. Please spread the word to 996 "fly-off" victims everywhere.
Hello everyone. The production run is complete and parts will be finished and ready for shipment on Monday. I will ship all back orders and new orders on Tuesday.
Thanks to all who have ordered and remained patient. I am pleased with the results of the project and hope you will be too.
Spread the word to those who may need 996 Headlight Washer Nozzle Caps.
Send me your email address and I will send you a paypal invoice for (2) Caps; one left one right.
Please note: these are not finished in chrome. They are painted with primer and ready for custom painting.
Hello everyone. I sold out the original production run. My new production run is in hand and are ready for shipment.
Please note: these are not finished in chrome. They are painted with primer and ready for custom painting. The left side nozzle is primed in black and the right side is primed in gray. This coordinates with each nozzles factory color to help coordinate the left vs right installation.
