Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hoping to get some info from anyone with experience on Fabspeed parts with 996. I currently have Fabspeed sports headers, x-pipe with 200 cell cats, and muffler in my '99 996. The parts were installed under a previous ownership. I was hoping to reduce some of the sound and cabin drone (when cruising at around 2-2700 rpm) but not take away much of the performance gains. I was wondering if anyone else is running this exact setup who thinks they are too loud, and what actions were taken to reduce the sound. Basically, I want to switch some of the parts back to stock but I'm not quite sure which to switch back.

POST 3Original post

Don't cruise at 2-2,700 RPM! Get it up there and they will sound amazing. Love my Fabspeed.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

@Imo000 Thanks! Just wanted to note, I have less the aggressive Maxflo performance exhaust, not the Supercups. I'm not sure if that changes your opinion.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

@ DBJoe996 Well that is one cost-effective solution. They do sound amazing when it gets up there

Then swap the cats. I'd like more noise if you want to trade or sell. PM me.

POST 8Original post

Fister mufflers are perfect. Economical, sound great, look factory.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for everyone's input. I will see if switching back to stock mufflers will be enough. If not, I will also switch back to stock cats. Had the car come with stock exhaust when I got it, I would have definitely gone with a simple Fister exhaust.

POST 10Original post

I have Fabspeed X-pipe with stock mufflers. No droning.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That is definitely good to hear. Hopefully that will do the job in my case. I also have the sports headers so I'm not sure if that will keep sound louder than I would like to.

I have headers, stock cats and Maxlows. I get no drone what so ever.

POST 13Original post

Crank up the stereo to 11, then you won't hear the exhaust!

POST 14Original post

I was running the same set up. Same noise/drone issue. Its not that they were bad but they were always on. The Fabspeed set up sounds killer on the track. I sold my MaxFlos and installed some Fisters with the headers and Cats. Its quiet compared to the Fabspeed set up I had but with the Fisters you can make them scream at your leisure.

I'm actually interested in making this switch. Are your also running Fabspeed headers and x-pipe (w/ cats)?

I will gladly trade you some stock mufflers + cash. Or even a whole stock setup for your entire setup with cash on top from my end. LMK!

Will keep you posted

POST 19Original post

Like others, I had the X-Pipes and stock mufflers. It sounded mostly stock. I've recently added the Agency Power mufflers, she's loud now!
