Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I wanted to not only post the link to my walkaround video and some photos but also say thanks to the Rennlist.com community for a ton of help. My car is a RUF modified 2002 Arctic Silver 996 Turbo so obviously much of the thanks goes to 911-AL but lots of people here were a big help. I often say that the internet can really stink and be annoying (especially around election time LoL) but it can also be a great learning tool and communication tool.
Instead of typing out a big long description of the process the video I did below tells the full tale but this has really been an awesome 10 months of owning the car. Covid made it stink with the modification not being able to be completed and
at times because of less events to attend but it also gave me time to work on her. Between casual Cars & Coffee events to the Carlisle Import Nationals Show and track events though, 2020 was salvaged for me car wise. Lets hope 2021 is better.

The car is a bit more show than go right now and... the RUF 485hp upgrade (turbo upgrade, computer tuning, exhaust, and filter/airflow) and RUF gauge/dash cluster are scheduled but were delayed due to coronavirus pandemic but are set to be completed as soon as possible.
I will also be looking for some exhaust/muffler advice as well and as always I am sure this forum will be a great tool.
Sounds like the previous owner added that, and now
@rufmod996tt
is playing catch-up.
I'd leave the badge on if it's going to have a Ruf turbo upgrade soon.
I'm surprised all those "add on parts" are available as such, as RUF is considered a "manufacturer" (i.e. - they buy a base "white" chassis configuration from Porsche and build it out using their own parts/spec's including engine mods). The car is registered as a RUF vehicle - not a Porsche... interesting - I wonder how RUF feels about this as their cars carry a hefty price tag (less than Singer but still a premium brand).
I guess you could say that the gun was jumped because now it has the badge and no upgraded RUF Turbos but that is the fault of Covid and shipping logistics. At the time that the modifications were decided it included the RUF RTurbo 485 package but in second quarter of 2020 when Covid shut some things down not the whole thing could be finished. Because I did not send the car to Germany to have it all done at once I did the RUF modification and it was to be carried out in a few phases. The RUF gauge cluster conversion is next and then muffler and turbo.
You could buy an RTurbo from RUF From a body in white with their VIN, you could supply a donor car and have it shipped to them and have their integrated roll cage installed and converted to RTurbo, or you can do a RUF modification where they will offer technical advice and sell you what you want and kind of make it the way you want to the degree you want. They are a manufacture and produce their own vehicles but they also will sell you what you want to customize your car like a tuner. They are the ones who helped me with deciding what to do and then they helped set me up
with the right RUF distributor to ship the parts and I had a shop who has experience withRUF do the installation.
Yes, Converting the car to RWD (Especially with the 19s) would make sense if I was going the super high power option road like 700hp but mine I feel should be okay for the power output and the way it is driven.

Unless you have found a source for 315/25r19 tires, there are no 19 inch tires that don't produce the same sort of ratios between the front and the back as seen in that thread. Some people get away with it, some people don't. When the 996 RTurbo came out, there was such a thing as a 315/25r19 tire. Not anymore.
Yes, those tires can be a pain to track down. With the help of RUF I found and bought some Toyo Proxes 315/25ZR19 tires. Knowing they were hard to come by I got them for the car and bought a few extras as spares.
Where in PA are you? I have an FVD exhaust with K24 race turbos if you would like to hear what that sounds like. I enjoy it because it is not to obnoxious until you hammer on it. I also have FVD straight pipes if you want to try those.
I am near York. Not too far from you but I am out in Bucks County all the time, sometimes for car events and sometimes for my kid's youth sports. My car will be down soon for the gauge cluster conversion but end of winter early spring I will be back out and about, maybe we could meet up. Also, the Porsche Swap Meet is in Carlisle this year which is not far from me at all. If you come to that we could meet up.
Wow, what a looker. Thanks for sharing. Sounds to me like you made the best of the 2020 situation, so great work despite having to overcome serious obstacles. Thats a winner attitude right there.
M Pete, The Porsche Swap Meet is fun but if you have never been to the Carlisle Import Nationals you need to try and make that event. We have a great section of Porsches in the Germany section. If you have never been there it is cool... the show field is divided up by regions of the world so all of the Porsches line up together alone with opel, BMW, Audi, etc in Germany right across from the Abarths, Lancia, Ferrari, Alfa guys in Italy, etc.
There are venders there and they have events. A few of us Porsche guys did the autocross last year and had a blast.
