Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was installing FM modulator so I had pulled the FM antenna out to insert the wired modulator wires. When I fired it up, the radio no longer had any FM or AM, but CD works fine. I then pulled the FM modulator out and reconnected the FM antenna as it was but still no go. The FM and AM sound static but no stations. Could I have yanked or broken the Antenna cable? Does it need to be reset somehow? Thanks

POST 2Original post

Looks like you might have damaged or unhooked the radio's main antenna. I believe the 996's antenna connects to the front windshield.

POST 4Original post

Also check if the power wire for the antenna amp didn't get snipped. Our cars actually have 4 separate antennas built in to the windshield and they are managed by an special amp that senses the two with the strongest signal and combines them for use.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks. I suspect I disconnected either the amp power or antenna itself. I am having a problem locating pics of the wiring harness into the head unit(to check which wires control antenna function) as well as how the antenna goes to the window.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Nutty Professor. Got it. Loose antenna connector to the head unit. I think it was designed poorly and prone to fail. Anyway happy camper and finally have aux input with the modulator.
