They wanted to push their "climate change" agenda...The climate has been changing since day one!

Replying to comment ''Climate had been changing since day one"; Yes, the climate has been changing since day one - I guess that's true.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

We are safe, but we are very inner city close to Melbourne.
It's certainly very tragic in the country and coastal areas not more than a couple of hours from the main capital cities, on a scale I have not seen in my lifetime. Certainly many people doing it tough in the regional areas.
The images I've seen are legit.
They've deployed some navy ships to evacuate 4000 people stranded in the one of the coastal resort towns over the weekend
Temps in some locations hit 49 degrees Celsius on the weekend, combined with strong winds.
They say is would take 200mm of rain in one hour to have any real effect on extinguishing some of the fires they are so ferocious, its bad.
Thanks for starting this thread
@wildbilly32
much appreciated.
Checking in as all good here, I'm in metro Melbourne fortunately, although lots going on in the bush. Rain has eased the fires but we're not in the clear just yet.
Its quite sad that some fokes light fires on purpose and cause all this mess. Some of it is nature and lightning etc some of it is arson - not good.
Very sad what's going on there.
They wanted to push their "climate change" agenda...The climate has been changing since day one!
For better or worse, man can't stop mother nature...
Regardless of how/why it started it is a disaster. At least 24 folks died, over 500k animals died and around 18 mil. acres burned. It is a disaster. I am just glad that we have heard from some of our Australian forum friends and they are ok.
Small effort, but we have asked all of our friends and family to donate to Red Cross Australia in lieu of giving gifts for our son's birthday in a few weeks. (We'll get him something...) Our hearts are with you, Aussies, I wish there were more we could do...
Almost makes me want to move to Australia. The koala's and wallaby's drinking from water bottles and hanging around in cars waiting for a ride for treatment. The people. All pretty cool. If only you didn't have that Great White problem and the expensive Porsche parts I would almost move there.
It is awesome here when there aren't any natural disasters going on.
On a side note I dream of USA Porsche part pricing here! Haha - although there are some good used parts places too.
Replying to comment ''Climate had been changing since day one"; Yes, the climate has been changing since day one - I guess that's true. Maybe global warming deniers could consider a few other facts: The usable atmosphere extends to about 6 miles up. The diameter of Earth is 8,000 miles - so we have a finite amount of atmosphere to live in. Here are some things that have never existed on Earth until the last two hundred years: Thousands of coal power plants, thousands of jet engines, hundreds of millions of furnaces, billions of automobiles with internal combustion engines, and billions of other machines with same. All of these man-made, fossil-fuel burning tools produce co2 and heat, and have been doing so without pause for at least 75 years - that has NEVER happened on this Earth before. If we somehow manage to get this problem under control, it won't be because of the people holding opinions as foolish as yours, sir.
Please don't be starting a fight in this thread the sentiment and thoughts for us Australian's was really great and a testiment to the great people on this forum.
If you want to fight about climate change please do it elsewhere.
In other news it's still quite smokey here in Melbourne which is a bit eerie.
According to the latest "MyFireWatch" map it shows two fairly recent hot spots just on the outskirts of Melbourne...so be freakin careful!

As a Californian I can relate. I don't think you can really grasp it unless you've seen it first hand and I think the speed of the fires catches a lot of people off guard. We haven't had a bad fire in San Diego County since 2017 and only about 200 houses burned down but it's always in the back of your mind. The 2017 fire at one point was burning 10 acres per minute.
Australia has been sending their firefighters to help California for the last 10-15 years so it's nice to see that we're reciprocating. Last week I donated $100 AUD (~$75 USD) to the Australian Red Cross figuring it's least I can do.
Good deal! Every time I check the map there seems to be new areas of fire. Melbourne area looks to have five new starts less than 12 hours old! Just be careful.
I know we live in the 24 hour news cycle age but I thought I would follow up in this thread with some feel good news.
We had a donation drive at work that collected stuff for fire victims and the response was great. A lot of supplies were shipped and one of our Aussie employees took stuff in her own baggage. Apparently at Australia Customs, there was some concern but once they knew what was going on, they took a big group photo and it was all good.
