Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I would replace the part, but at the very least, the rocker needs to be removed and repaired from the inside with a proper adhesive for the type of plastic the part is made of (there will be an identifier somewhere on the part).

I gave my indy full discretion to change the entire sill after he got a better look from underneath, he went with the fix as shown above instead.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My indy fixed it for no charge while doing other work.
Here are some photos (3) of passenger rear tire well of 03 4s and one of same location on drivers side. Can this damage be fixed with gorilla glue or other bonding agent or best to replace? When pushed with finger it seals well, giving me hope it can be glued.
thanks.
thanks. Its been there since i bought the car 10 months and 11k miles ago, just never got around to caring about it til now. Its the front of the rear well, so not sure the cause.
Try plastic weld with reinforcement first. Less bucks. If it doesn't hold or look good you may be able to find that piece at a salvage place. But, can you remove just that piece from the whole section?
It appears to be a solid piece with a rip near the edge. When pressed from rear it moves forward and fits perfectly. I will try to bond it somehow and put something between tire and the spot to hold it while it sets. worse case i replace both sides with new satin black sills.

And jeez this thread is depressing. 996 bargain basement prices mean it's bargain basement upkeep I guess.
Not sureexactly what you mean by that ^^ Not bargain basement upkeep by any means. This why why so many of theses cars are under maintained (buy 'em cheap, drive 'em till they start to break and then sell'em...). Price of purchase is a poor indicator of "price of ownership"... In the words of a wise man... "The cheapest Porsche you can buy will be the most expensive Porsche you own"...
I agree. Also, the part that Dr_Strangelove linked to is for the
front
wheel arch. You need part #996.504.364.00, $136.23 from Sonnen (or $193.00 from Auto Atlanta
).
$135.00 per side here!
996-504-363-00-01C
, left side (driver's), $135.00
996-504-364-00-01C
, right side (passenger's), $135.00
If missing, the socket head bolts are
N-906-487-04
, $0.18 ea, and the panel nuts are
999-507-668-01
, $0.66 ea. The u-clips/clamps that attach the sills to the vehicle are
999-507-640-09
, $1.97 ea.
If you really don't want to replace the rocker cover, you should at least do a proper fix - it was nice of the "indie" to do what he did, but it's pretty "ghetto" if you ask me. I would replace the part, but at the very least, the rocker needs to be removed and repaired from the inside with a proper adhesive for the type of plastic the part is made of (there will be an identifier somewhere on the part). If you like to DIY it shouldn't be difficult - if not, just buy the part...
