Reported cause
The issue is the OEM clips do not fit the new injectors, because the groove is in a different location on the 3.6 injector.
Leading evidence: 'oem clips do not fit the new injectors' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'oem clips do not fit the new injectors' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Install bosch 3' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I recently installed Bosch 3.6 injectors into a 3.4 fuel rail.

I'm happy with the way it turned out, although the car hasn't been started yet with these newly installed injectors.

So is it the 3.6 fuel rail that is different and the injector pushes in a bit more than the 3.4 injector then uses the same clip so when you got the 3.4 rail and 3.6 injector it won't push in as far so you have to put a groove in the injector higher up the injector body to fit the clip on??

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi guys
Thought I'd say I got a really good deal in injectors from AUTODOC , I got six new for like 120 gbp!! Think this is good and for that price with the risk of a bad injector taking out a cylinder why wouldn't you change them, it's no harder than changing plugs, I can even do a little video as I have my rear bumper and exhaust off at the moment!! I do need a bit of info, can probably work it out but was wondering what you do to the later style 3.6 injector to fit it to the earlier 3.4 car , I've heard it's possible , jake has even mentioned it , I believe it's a better part , later design , corrosion resistant body etc
Thanks guys for any info you have ?
From what I have read you just need to enlarge (make wider) the gap on the injector where the clip goes. Doesn't take much. Maybe someone who has done this will weigh in.
I recently installed Bosch 3.6 injectors into a 3.4 fuel rail. The issue is the OEM clips do not fit the new injectors, because the groove is in a different location on the 3.6 injector. I worked with another Rennlist member for a while to create a modified clip, but that didn't pan out. I ended up purchasing a "micro dremel"

and create the groove myself. I'm happy with the way it turned out, although the car hasn't been started yet with these newly installed injectors. The photo of the 3.6 injector with the extra groove was my first attempt (not my best work!, ha).

Brand new Bosch in original box with bar code authenticity scan thing on it so OEM , came shopped from Germany through autodoc, does have the Bosch logo and part number on it , also says China on it , I presume Bosch have them made under license in China , they don't look like dodgy knock offs or anything !

Just thinking if the rails where to be the same could we not order 997 clips that would be deeper and fit??
