Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

On other cars, I ran unsealed open fitted with a grease fitting suspension components for years and they lasted just fine.

'course, one had to get the car in the air every so often and wipe clean the grease fittings and shoot some grease into the things to keep them fresh.

ran across moog drop link for a 996 C4...anyone use these?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

ran across moog drop link for a 996 C4...anyone use these? I am a bit nervous using a open unsealed greaseable drop link vs the sealed OEM
I will probably just buy the OEM but my buddy was going to give me these moogs for free he had extra.
Thoughts?
I had open droplinks like you describe on my C4S and they never gave me any problems, despite driving my car year-round in Seattle (meaning: in the rain a lot).
Moog was the best in aftermarket suspension parts, often redesigning oem designs to minimize wear. I learned this when I sold suspension parts in the late 80's. Don't know Moog's current rep, but I think they have been bought by TRW. I would try them if I were you, or if your friend would give them to me!
yeah even those these are the right parts...they seem so un-OEM like you know what i mean? I guess they are easy to swap back out so I might as well ride em for 10k or so
They were on the car when I got it, so by the time I sold the car they had been on there for at least three years/20k miles. I think they came with the JIC coilovers that were on there.

Word of warning for the rear Moog drop links (my car is a 2004 C2): the units delivered to me by Rockauto had the incorrect thread pitch for my factory rear shocks. Thread diameter looked correct, as the link fit correctly in the sway bar, but they would not thread more than a half turn into the shock bracket. Dimensionally, they were perfect as well. The thread pitch made them a no-go, unfortunately. I'll return them and order replacements from ECS or Pelican.
The Moog front drop links I ordered fit without issue.

sent u a pm on the part numbers you ordered...i want to compare to mine...
the rears i have are K750184
I would like to know what fronts you bought too...thanks
The fronts I ordered are K750080 and K750082 - they fit fine. The rears are the K750184, the same as you have.
You can test the thread compatibility for the rear links by removing the nut from the sway bar side and trying to thread it on the new links.
I sent the above message in reply to your PM as we'll. I thought it would be good info to post here just in case anyone searches for it at a later date.
