I had the windshield on my Porsche and our Range Rover replaced by Safelite...they did a decent job on both and came to my house to install them.

^ Normally I would agree with that but German windscreens are so soft due to 1) lack of stone use during winter months and 2)softness due to safety requirements.

My insurance Ameriprise only offers lifetime warranty if I use their list of glass companies.

I had the windshield on my Porsche and our Range Rover replaced by Safelite...they did a decent job on both and came to my house to install them. Our Rover was from the rocks on Hwy 50.

its my experience that you shouldnt be to casual about who does the windsheild install,there are alot of places out there,first try and make sure its the OEM replacement,because i know they will have a cheaper alternative,and its hard to know if the shop has a history of working on porsche cars,the reason i say this there are some trim pieces that have to be removed and if your not careful they can be broken!(ask me how i know?) and of course actual fitment,sometimes not all the time a non OEM windshield will not fit 100% and possibly start to creak,listen its not rocket science installing wind shields,but a shop thats familiar with our cars really helps.....good luck....ps sorry i live in new york

interesting,the fitment is a bigger issue over all,what you say makes sense my original windshield was pretty worn with out alot of miles on it ,maybe due to what you say softer glass,i went with Oem and a quality installation,yes a few more bucks.I knew some people with 996/997s that had some problems with aftermarket glass.

If your not interested in concours, I had mine replaced by safelite, $650, great fitment and no seals were broken in the process.
