Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

A few people asked me about the color on my wheels. The car had BBS Sport Classic 2 wheels from the factory that were in really bad shape when it bought the car. Both rears had severe curb rash and one had a huge chunk missing from the rim edge. Originally I had planned on taking the two piece wheels apart and refinishing them in the factory silver. Once I looked into this procedure and the issues with removing the (titanium?) bolts and having to replace them, I decided that was a lot of trouble for wheels that I didn't really like that much to begin with. In my opinion, the Sport Classic wheel looks great on a 964 or a 993, but they tend to date the 996. Then I thought, why not try to update the look with a gunmetal or anthracite color. I didn't bother taking the wheels apart in case they turned out crappy and I wanted to strip them and go back silver.
The car when I bought it. She's a solid 20 footer. Up close the paint needs correction, the side skirts need to be remounted, and the wheels are badly curbed.
This is one of the worst areas, but all four wheels had various rashes, missing clearcoat, pits, and chunks.

The worst chunks needed a little filler. Apply in thin layers and sand when dry.

The filler sanded easily with 150 grit and a palm sander.
I then primed the entire wheel with several coats of self etching primer.
I had originally planned on spraying the wheels with my compressor and a HVLP gun, but I had read where other people had good luck with Duplicolor spray wheel paint. After watching a couple YouTube videos on it, I was sold. Much easier and cheaper than shooting them with a paint gun.
Close shot of the finished product. This was the worst wheel when I started.
All done and ready for paint correction which is my next project.
Nice job! Like the colour. Did you use bondo for filler?
I did the same to mine this winter while she was tucked away. I used wurths paint and i thought it was top notch. I used bondo to fill.
Its a fun job to due during the doldrums of the january rains here.im on the look out for some beat up rims to fix up for my winter tires. Would like to try and paint them that new satin platinum that porsche now offers.
Have had them professionally refinished twice now in the past three months due to tire shops smashing the crap out of them. So my advice....take some phone pics just before a tire re and re!
The drive perfect and the balance is perfect. They kept them for a week because of the 2 piece but I have no complaints except the center caps don't match any more lol but what can I do.
