2 days ago started car in the am and tachometer registered barely 200 rpms, engine felt as if wanted to turn off. I kept steady pressure on gas pedal and drove it around block and the rpm's raised to 800 or so. Drove car for 50 miles with no issues that day and another 80 miles the next with no problems. Quirk? SAI? Vacuum leak? Too little info? I do not have OBD11 reader and wanted to gather some possibilities. Thanks for any input.

You may want to try the following - Clean your throttle body and idle valve (looks like a MkI?) - Get a scanner to scan for error codes - visually check all hoses that you can see

Model year, miles, and some more details about the car would be nice. If the CEL came on or is on read the codes. Even if the CEL never came on or is off you can check for pending codes. If the car is pre e-Gas you should consider the ICV. It could be dirty or possibly failing. If the car is either pre or post e-Gas you should consider the fuel filter or the fuel pump. While it doesn't read like an AOS there's always the AOS to consider. Also, while it doesn't read like a bad MAF or a wrong reading coolant temperature sensor you need to keep these in the back of your mind as possible explanations. I'd not replace anything just yet unless the fuel filter is due based on miles.
