Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Dear Enthusiasts i stupidly, without thinking made the mistake of opening the door (while locked) with a key and diving straight in. i started the car, then realised i hadn't actually used the fob to unlock the doors, so thinking this is bad, i should do it all again. Of course, the alarm went off. i then tried to close the doors to start again, but the doors now won't lock with the key fob. every time i press, i get two beeps. doing some research it seems there is an issue somewhere. never had this issue, the car is in great shape electronically, so no complaints. any ideas on how to try and solve the problem and get it locking again with a keyfob? thank you

thank you, just tried it and it appears electrics have gone all funny. the unlock button doesnt work nor do any of the electric windows. is it worth checking the fuses to see if i can find a broken fuse? looking at the diagram, looks like it may be B6 or C3.

POST 4Original post

Assuming you're able to start the car and the alarm isn't going off, sometimes driving around for a few minutes helps reset the electrical gremlins

POST 5Original post

By all means check the fuses. The other culprit for electrical gremlins is the electrical part of the ignition switch. And, since we don't know the year and model of your car, but very often the key fobs give up after twenty years. You can do a complete reset of the car's electrical systems by disconnecting the negative lead on the battery. Wait 30 minutes and re-connect and try it all again.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks for everybody's help. somehow the process of starting the car without unlocking the doors using the fob had blown 3 fuses: B2 - 2001-2004: Hazard-Warning, A.Turn-Signal System B6 - 1999-2004: Turn Signals, Power Window C3 - 1999-2004: CU CLS Alarm, Power Winoow, Sun Roof, CU Power Top, Inside Light all of the above are 15amps. once replaced this morning, the car is back to it's normal. and here she is....
