i am in the process of replacing front control arms and tie rods with tie rod ends, i removed the drivers side dust boot and seemed a little odd that it was a tad wet in the boot nothing crazy, today i removed the passenger side dust boot and about 1/4 cup of fluid came out, it was light brown as in fresh motor oil but we know a rack doesn't have motor oil,

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello Everyone, today is my first post on this site and could use some help. I have been noticing a sensitive steering at high speeds and a little floating side to side not bad but nerving. 2002 911 C2 cab 56k miles i am in the process of replacing front control arms and tie rods with tie rod ends, i removed the drivers side dust boot and seemed a little odd that it was a tad wet in the boot nothing crazy, today i removed the passenger side dust boot and about 1/4 cup of fluid came out, it was light brown as in fresh motor oil but we know a rack doesn't have motor oil, i did about a hour of searching and did not find anything to explain what i am seeing. can someone give some idea on if i should 1. rebuild, 2. replace w/rebuilt. or leave alone what came out of the boot on floor passenger side rack tie rod end drivers side rack tie rod end, grease is a wet feel not tacky.

POST 2Original post

POST 3Original post
