Long story short got pulled over few months ago and he actually bent over and saw I was running no cats, luckily he was a Porsche fan and let me off with a warning but he did mention that next time he sees me he will check back to see if I switched it out.

I do not see how the fister mod changes the performance aspect.

I also run the Speedtech cat delete-X pipe with Fister mod cans on my 40AE.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

I'm thinking of doing the clutch and everything else associated with it this summer and will reinstall the modified x pipe and most likely use stock mufflers instead of the PSE.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have a set of Fister style mufflers done by a local custom exhaust shop and love them, but find myself craving a bit more sound and particularly a higher pitch. Has anyone combined Fisters with a cat-bypass x-pipe? Obviously this will be louder, I'm very curious as to the overall tone as well as sound level increase at highway cruising speeds. There are many posts from those who have combined high-flow cats with Fisters/PSE/other, but not much on the cat bypass.
I've been looking to add the x-pipe cat bypass to my headers/PSE and have been trying to find someone running this set-up. No such luck but I did stumble upon this video recently. Pretty good before and after comparison, albeit on a 997.

I had the fabspeed cat bypass pipes combined with my gemballa cans with fister mod and it sounded AWSOME. Very throaty at low RPMs and it screams like a virgin at high. I did loose some low end torque but I gained noticeable mid and high range. Plus better throttle control. But, Glendale is a small town and there are only two yellow porsches that I know of and Im sure all cops (most who are ******** in this area) know my car. Long story short got pulled over few months ago and he actually bent over and saw I was running no cats, luckily he was a Porsche fan and let me off with a warning but he did mention that next time he sees me he will check back to see if I switched it out. So I ended up taking them off, its a huge fine here in Cali.
I too had the cat bypass xpipe with a PSE exhaust (basically a fister) and it is loud. Took it off last weekend to get some cell 200 cats retrofitted to get the loss of midrange back (3000-4500rpm). Cruising speed is fine but at WOT it screams.
I have the cat bypass pipes now and will install the fister d next week. Why would that cause a loss of low range torque? I do not see how the fister mod changes the performance aspect. Thanks

I can't tell you why the power loss but I'm assuming it's from the lack of back pressure. I can only give feedback from my experience with my car only. Comparing my experience to the fabspeed dyno, I did not experience that kind of power increase at the top end but from 3k-4.5k it was a noticeable loss hence the removal to get some cell 200 for more back pressure.
I believe the removal of the cats is what some attribute to a lack of low range torque due to less back pressure. If you look at the Fabspeed bypass pipe dyno charts, there is a dip in output at low RPMs but it comes on strong in the midrange.
Nismo, how would you describe the sound?
The sound of the x pipe coupled with a factory PSE mufflers (Pretty much the same as Fister) sounded like a reduced decibel cup car.
I'm thinking of doing the clutch and everything else associated with it this summer and will reinstall the modified x pipe and most likely use stock mufflers instead of the PSE.
Did you ever end up combining the x pipe with stock mufflers? Curious to see how much sound levels differ from stock. I hear widely varying accounts and can't seem to dig up any videos of this specific setup.
I just installed my speedtech cat x pipe this past weekend.
I have afterhours cup style mufflers on it already, the sound is wonderful.
I can say it feels like it picked up better mid range about 4k rpm and then it screams but in a good way.
So I would suggest do the x pipe with cats. (200 count cats), your choice on who's catted x pipe you use.
I know it's not cheap too do, but in the long run it's worth it.
I also run the Speedtech cat delete-X pipe with Fister mod cans on my 40AE. It sounds amazing from startup to WOT. I installed the supplied 02 bung spacers and don't get any CELs. There's definitely a noticeable loss of low end torque (I need to be careful as I've stalled it on starts or it bucks if I'm not paying attention) but the loss of torque on the low end is definitely made up for by the increase in the 4.5-6K range.
I have the Fisters with the Speed Venture X pipe and the 200 cell high flow cats and the sound is pretty good
I live in a condo complex so not sure if my neighbors agree
I lived in a small town and back in high school I had a 1968 Mercury Cougar with a 428CJ with a home made manual cut out exhaust similar to the one below. As soon as a cop would pull out behind me I would slowly push the cable back in and close the exhaust bypass valves. The cops were to lazy to look under the car but they put a rag up to the exhaust pipes to make sure exhaust flow was coming from the pipe then after a few minutes of harassing me they would threaten to tell my dad I was gunning my engine.
