Takes longer to get it up on jack stands than to actually change the oil and filter.

I have got to say this is the easiest car EVER to change oil in.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
26 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Did my 2nd oil change on the Targa since I bought the car last Oct.
Takes longer to get it up on jack stands than to actually change the oil and filter.
I borrowed Paul's microscope and had a good look at the cut open filter.
Damn, what I found was just plain old oil, no plastic bits, no metal flakes, just plain old oil. I guess the Kirkland Organic Extra Virgin Olive oil that I have been using is just what my M96 likes.
What am I doing wrong with no strange bits in the filter?
Lol, I bet I know the story behind this picture. His car was about to be repossessed and knew he could make a little coin on the rims and tires. The car was faux stolen and as to not damage the car he let it down on blocks. About 20 years ago, this happened to a warehouse guy where I worked. Granted it is just speculation but the picture looked so familiar. His was a 300zx.
Aw hell, just to make everybody happy, go buy some of this:
Then lay your open filter on the workbench and do this:
Then you can post the pic on here and everybody can do this:
And the final step is that you can do this:
Oh, and here is a bonus just because these are two of my all-time favorite gifs:
And just because we are being silly (and it's been a while since I've had an excuse to post it), here's one of Kalash showing off the guns:
But Kalashnikov is my hero. If I can find a time machine and go backwards 30 years, I want to be like him.
EDIT: The irony just hit me - when I was his age, I hunted Russian submarines for a living.
You hunted for things long and hard and full of seamen?
The hole you are digging is getting deeper.
First Gnat, now KC.
Guess I may as well go Boxster shopping if this is where the crowd is headed.

1st oil change in the 996 last night. I have got to say this is the easiest car EVER to change oil in.
LN filter is right there next to the drain plug. How smart them Germans are.
Yea nothing in the bottom of the pan either.
Fresh rebuilt motor with 3000 miles on it.
Don't give them too much credit as this is how most oil filters are situated in a boxer setup on modern cars(like Subaru). I haven't peeked under a Testarossa though...
Maybe it's just the other silly cars I own.
2001 Focus OMG it sucks
2000 7.3L Super Duty I have yet to not spill some oil somehow.
1995 M3 Oil filter is just plain silly
2007 mini Cooper S I just want to shoot them.
Well transverse mounted engines can always be a pain.
7.3L is a given, especially on Fuds with wacky wiring and busy engine bay.
Any M series always has to be difficult for some reason, they are built with sophistication and performance in mind first, maintenance second. I've had e30, e36, e46 M cars and they all seem to be more difficult to work on than their non-M counterparts(e36 being the closest bridge).
