By far my best modifications have been the car seat I picked up from Walmart and my just installed double DIN audio system.

In my garage, I replaced the stock suspension (man those bump stops were toast) with a used PSS10 that I bought here on Rennlist.

When driving around at setting 5/6 it is nicely stiff but still compliant.

The seat rocks because I can enjoy the car with my son and the radio rocks now because I can use the phone for music or a phone call and I hooked it up so DVD plays while driving which keeps my son entertained.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Got that fixed at a place that charged me too much, but it got fixed and found a better shop for other stuff.
Six months of ownership and no real problems:
Initially had a problem with a CEL from the secondary air pump and slight coolant leak and other stuff. Got that fixed at a place that charged me too much, but it got fixed and found a better shop for other stuff. Still couldn’t get the car to get rid of the CEL and after Internet searches found out that I need to start the car with as much electrical load as possible (defrost, A/C, etc. all on) and BAM, code cleared and was able to get the car inspected.
Later on, I noticed a small oil leak. Oh crap! Oh no! Luckily, it was a bad oil filter. Paid too much to get this diagnosed and vowed to do more investigation on issues before immediately taking it in to the shop.
A few weeks ago, went over what I thought was a small speed bump, $$$ for a new oil pan cover (I went with an X51) and bought the steel skid plate to protect it. All is good now. I will be going over EVERY speed bump at an angle now. An immediate shut off, AAA and the fact that ONLY lost about 4 quarts of oil was a good thing.
In my garage, I replaced the stock suspension (man those bump stops were toast) with a used PSS10 that I bought here on Rennlist. The suspension is set at GT3 height and some sort of alignment ( I don’t remember the specs). I have a bigger adjustable rear bar set at one hole away from full stiff and the stock front sway bar. When driving around at setting 5/6 it is nicely stiff but still compliant. On track with it set to 10 it adds some nice stiffness. I used PFC brake pads and ATE and have no real issue with fade.
I replaced whatever Michelins street M/S tires on the car with Direzza II 225/255 17”. I may go to a 18” wheel next year, we will see.
The car is still new to me and I took it to Texas World Speedway and Road Atlanta. I run in HPDE3 or solo group. I am slow or I can say that I am within 60% of the car capabilities. I am taking my time figuring this car out. I always drive with PSM off (street and track), so I can feel the car and react. I only keep PSM on in the rain. I am hoping to be sliding the car around when I do my next track event at a track that I know well (MSR Cresson). The car pulls like a freight train (I have 3.8L Jake Raby motor). This motor is FUN. But with the power, I have options. Some turns can be 3rd or 4th gear. If I was going faster, probably most of those turns would be 4th only. We’ll see in the upcoming months when I get more comfortable with the dynamics of this car.
By far my best modifications have been the car seat I picked up from Walmart and my just installed double DIN audio system. The seat rocks because I can enjoy the car with my son and the radio rocks now because I can use the phone for music or a phone call and I hooked it up so DVD plays while driving which keeps my son entertained. I installed the radio myself and need to tweek it better. Or unfortunately may have to take it to an audio shop to get it perfect.
Anyway. Car is good. Costs are within reason. I have always been a Honda person and thankfully no real issues. Great car. Looking forward to my next mods in the upcoming years (GT3RS wing, Joe Toth front splitter, maybe race seat or OEM sport seat and maybe 18”wheels).
Glad to hear you're enjoying your 996! Those look like some fun modifications coming up. If you need help with installing a race seat we have a great

that may be of some assistance for that project. How's your son enjoying the car?
My son LOVES this car. I think he likes it more than me! That is what makes this sooooo much better than any two seat car, the fact I can enjoy it with family.
That's great to hear! I'm sure he appreciates you sharing your joy of your Pcar with him. Hopefully, he will be able to help you work on it as he gets older.

It is easy to do, but there are some details that I think a professional can make the installation look.... well.... professional. If you are a very detailed oriented person, have a dremel and other tools (which I do have), it would be easy to do and make look good. But like anything detailed, those who do it regularly usually can do it great and quick.
