Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Oh, there was no change for this battery charger "work".
Trying to describe the sound as best I can...:-)
When my a/c starts up, occasionally I get this sound that is almost like someone is sticking a piece of cloth in a fan? Sort of a stuttering but the fan speed doesn't slow exactly..it's just sort of like the sound your voice makes when you talk into a fan.
Anyhow, it lasts like 10-15 seconds then it stops and everything sounds normal. Tried searching on different key words and got no luck. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Does the noise vary if you change fan speed?
I'm getting some kind of noise from my 996 Turbo's cabin fan. It sort of sounds like a fan with blades and the blades are hitting something but the noise is not regular, periodic, quite the opposite. Very irregular. Also, I can speed up or slow down the fan and the noise doesn't change in frequency or tempo. The only thing that happens is if I turn the fan speed all the way down to where the fan stops the noise stops.
Had the tech look at this the other day. He thought it might be a loose arm on an air flap or an air flap loose but he says all are good. He says the fan -- a squirrel cage fan I think (I didn't see it but generally this the fan type) -- looked ok, and the fan motor didn't have any play in its bearings.
To add to the mystery when he put the fan back in the dash and tested it the noise was gone.
When I got the car back the noise was gone but it has since returned.
I sort of have the idea the battery plays a role. He told me the battery was way down to around 60%. I told him to just replace the battery but he said he had a battery charger that could possibly resurrect the battery. He connected a battery charger to the battery and this battery charger discharges the battery then charges the battery and does so in a way that he claims can resurrect a battery. He left this device connected for a few days and it did its discharge/recharge thing several times and the battery charger display indicated the battery was back to 100%.
But I wonder...
Anyhow, about the noise: Maybe this weekend I'll make a video/audio clip of the noise and post it.
