Reported cause
I had exactly the same problem last year, same symptoms and no contact between ABS and Durametric, it turned out to be the electronic control module for the ABS system which is bolted on top of the hydraulic unit.

It is likely the ABS module (which is sitting on top of the pump).

I'm guessing that milage of any Porsche would.be traceable via the Durametric tool and checking the hours logged by the DME.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I ended up getting a second hand part which fixed it instantly.
Hi All,
Pulled the car out of hibernation today, and have a couple issues. The first is the ABS light came on. The last time I drove the car, it flickered a bit when I would hit a bump, but it was not staying on. It is now on solidly.
The second thing that occurred is the Speedo and the Odometer stopped working. It was also just over bumps at first, but now both are not working at all (analog and digital). Everything else is working on the cluster. The analog speedo also works because I was able to trigger it with my Durametric.
My durametric was not able to connect to the ABS module, so I was not able to pull codes. I think I was able to connect to it before.
In some searching, it looks like the two may be related, since the ABS signal communicates with the cluster. Any clue where to look?
Also, if the ABS controls the odometer, what prevents someone from disconnecting the connector and not recording mileage? My car has 121K miles, so I am not really worried about keeping the miles down, but it seems like a fairly easy thing for someone to do if they were trying to be dishonest.
This might be an exercise in futility, but I think both those electrical consumers use the same ground point.
location G3. Which is drivers side, trunk.
Might be worth a look.

Sounds like a loose connection or wiring issue. You may want to check if the abs connector is tight.
If memory serves, the wheel speed sensors feed the abs unit, which in turn feeds the cluster and DME.
I think even if all the wheel speed sensors have gone offline, Durametric should still be able to communicate with the abs unit. The fact that you can't communicate with the abs unit seems to point to the abs connector.
I had exactly the same problem last year, same symptoms and no contact between ABS and Durametric, it turned out to be the electronic control module for the ABS system which is bolted on top of the hydraulic unit. I ended up getting a second hand part which fixed it instantly.
There are different variations so make sure you get one that has the same Bosch part nr. Hope this helps.
Thanks all for the help. Will check all the wiring, will also check the connection at the pump. I actually already have a spare so that is good. When you swapped your out, did you need to change the entire pump/module, or could you just change the module?
I wouldn't assume it is the harness (unless the car had been damaged in some way. It is likely the ABS module (which is sitting on top of the pump). Do you have a durametric or other scan tool that can connect to the individual modules? That would help rule it out. I actually have a spare ABS pump/module if you wanted to test with it.
