Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I'll have to find a 90* boot but this application looks more like a cap as I don't think the wires are ran through it.

I could just use heat shrink but I don't want to pull apart the connector and potentially damage it for a cheap fix.

I imaging I'd either be able to lube the pice over the connector or use a tool to remove the wires from the connector to install the cover piece.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Anybody know where I can source this missing electrical "hood" piece for what appears to be the Variable Timing Adjustment actuator? I could spend $$$ on an e-bay Porsche harness but can I source one separately or is there another/cheaper vehicle I could get one from? I imaging I'd either be able to lube the pice over the connector or use a tool to remove the wires from the connector to install the cover piece. This is for a 2003 4S.
Pictures looking at driver's side (LHS) of engine.

I don't know where to get one of those special right angle hood but there are plenty rubber boots for those 2 pin amp connectors you can get. There is not a lot of space to work with in that little crevice of an engine bay so I don't know how you will get the boot in there.
Thanks for the tip about the 2-pin AMP connector. I wasn't sure what the name of this connector or boot was. I'll have to find a 90* boot but this application looks more like a cap as I don't think the wires are ran through it.
hah, i totally went looking for some of those boots off of the variocam connectors so as to use on my injectors too. i found that the injector wiring sticks out a bit and is subject to mechanical damage. can't find anywhere in the PET. given the connectors are standard bosch stuff i went looking elsewhere; bosch, other german cars, aftermarket, etc. nothing. good luck man.
Yeah, even if I want to make it right I've looked at the engine harnesses on ebay and I haven't been able to clearly see that connector cap I'm after in the pictures. With my luck I'd spend $200-300 on a used engine harness and that part would be missing. I could just use heat shrink but I don't want to pull apart the connector and potentially damage it for a cheap fix. I'd take the risk for the correct part though. Although I think it is just a cap and the wires may need feed through it...so it likely wouldn't need to be taken apart.
yes, just a cap no need to disassemble the connector. find a guy parting a car and get him to toss you one in an envelope for $5; check kijiji and some of the car forums - there's always someone pulling a boxster apart (and it's the same part).
You might check with Randy at DC Auto. There are a salvage yard focused on Porsche in North or South Carolina. They were very helpful for an issue I had recently. Maybe they have a wiring harness that's been hacked up that they would be able to just sell you the protective cover off of.
Thanks for the tip. I was able to contact DC Auto and get a couple of these connector boot pieces from them after contacting a couple other dismantlers with no luck.
