Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

If you don't think 996 prices are on the rise, check out this sale yesterday: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...carrera-4s-36/

POST 2Original post

I was going to wait till spring to pull the trigger and glad I didn't. Also saw a 40th Jahre there go for about $43k - wowza

POST 3Original post

That's a really strong price, especially for a car with a red interior. LOL There must have been at least a couple of bidders that really liked some of the unique specs of that car to push the sale price that high.

POST 4Original post

Everyone's tastes are different I suppose. I thought mine would go for higher, but oh well lol. Mine only had 18k miles, and I much prefer the interior of mine. 996s are def on the rise!

POST 5Original post

Silver and red isn't a bad combo although I think the e46 M3 pulls it off way better from this era. There are a bunch of 996 auctions going on right now and I am interested in seeing the results, especially on the non turbo or 4s.

Agreed, certainly not for everyone. The weirder the car, the higher the price on BaT. I'd be tired of that interior color quickly.

POST 7Original post

Im a sucker for wacky interior colors. Id never tire of the red. Heres the Halloween theme of my wifes M3.

POST 8Original post

Wow! Great price, borderline unbelievable actually. I've recently dropped the asking price of my C4S to 30k. Had a few offers in the mid-20s that I've rejected. It seems there aren't tons of buyers out there willing to pay the premium but they do exist.

HOLY CRAP! Maybe I'll sell mine...NAW...too much fun!

POST 10Original post

Wow. Great to see this kind of thing. It was only 4 years ago some of us were posting questions wondering if the 996 would stop depreciating and remain flat. So this is a nice surprise 😁 It might be a temporary high bump though; well have to see.

Was that the one that blew up in Texas on his way home from picking the car up in California?

POST 13Original post

Agree that the Silver/Red drove the price up. It's not a rare combo on Mk1 Carreras but it is on 02+ 4S cars. As mentioned above - "interesting choices" not for everyone but definitely for someone. I saw that red interior and said to myself "oh baby, that interior is HOT!"

Nope, two different cars. I was referring to a 40th anniversary car that recently sold for about $43k. I was lucky to snag one for significantly less, albeit with some more miles. The one you're thinking off was the beautiful red Targa with gold BBS wheels that went boom and ended up at Flat6. Not sure if Jake is at liberty to share details but would be cool to see what's happening with that. It was quite a thread!

POST 15Original post

It makes sense that 996 prices are on the rise, they are fantastic cars. I can't believe how good my 2000 C2 is, brings a smile every time I drive it. They are still underappreciated.

Its in queue here.. I'm not sharing any other details until the seller decides to show his hand. Gotta save the best for last.

At the end of the day they were base $75k+ new from the showroom floor. They were never cheap cars and the performance has always been prevalent. Similar to other elder Porsche's that caught grief, those owners that sold 10 years ago now are saying "oh man if only I had held on to my such and such.....". My purchase wasn't for an investment, but because it was an awesome deal for an awesome car that I never expected to have in the garage. If it appreciates, which time will only tell, would just be cream cheese icing on the voluptuous red velvet cake this ownership has been.

POST 18Original post

I can't believe that kind of money was spent and nobody publicly got the IMS clarified...."the shop in Florida confirmed it was the LN Kit"....which LN kit? Solution or retrofit? 57k miles and the car only has 60k, but was it done in 2006 or 2018??? This one sat for way too long for this kind of money.....was driven less than 2k miles in 14 years.

POST 19Original post

I've been stocking up on some cars that I think will go up in value. I am buying the ones that are in need of a lot of work right now. Preparing to buy the nice ones when the economy takes a turn for the worse. I don't want to it to turn bad, but I can't see how it won't.
