Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm noticing some clutch slippage under power in the higher gears, and this is disconcerting on my 2000 996 Cab. The car only has 58,000 miles and a new clutch and flywheel were done 5000 miles ago. The car is a weekend driver and is not thrashed as I'm not a kid anymore. Any suggestions as to what the matter can be? Marc

POST 2Original post

Look for any weeping at the trans/engine mating area. If the RMS or IMS flange are leaking it can contaminate the friction surfaces.

More likely, what was causing the clutch to slip in the first place wasnt just wear. This is not as rare as one would think.

POST 5Original post

I once had a shop put in a new clutch on my BMW 330Ci...it never felt right and began to slip within 2k miles. The shop had put the clutch disc in backwards.

POST 6Original post

Check for freeplay! If the clutch pedal is firm with no "Slack" you'll have slippage. Bob

And be sure that the slippage is measured at the right spot. If measured by the persons foot, it could be tight due to the helper spring on the clutch pedal, so thats not the contact point to check. Just an FYI.
