Suggestion

As said by DBJoe, 996 front is very well braced unless you are running slicks, and then you’ll have AOS failure or oil starvation before the strut brace helped anyway (almost joking).

Suggestion

The 996 chassis is already so stiff I can use the rear jack point on one side to lift that entire side.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have the M030 sports suspension on my 996 Carrera , only a few months ago I replaced all shocks which made a noticeable difference . I am thinking to put in my car a strut brace. Has anyone installed a strut brace at the front of the car ? noticeable difference ? any disadvantages / risks ? Nearly 20 years ago when I had a BMW E36 M3 Evolution SMG I put on her the BMW Motorsport Engine strut brace and the BMW Motorsport X brace , both of which made a very noticeable difference in the car I am thinking as well of the RUF one

POST 2Original post

Are you looking for anything specific? Make it a stiffer car? Do you track your car? The 996 is a VERY capable car as it is. Catching up on maintenance like the suspension is a great idea, but beyond that, you are not going to get a return on your "investment". These cars are old now so there's a lot to refresh on them. Besides that, most drivers need to mod the driver, not the car, to get the most out of it.

POST 3Original post

The 996 chassis is already so stiff I can use the rear jack point on one side to lift that entire side. This idea is a waste of money, totally, IMHO.

POST 4Original post

IIRC there are already diagonal bars under the plastic cover the frunk.

Strut brace is useless unless it is one piece. The ones with any flex points are ineffective. As said by DBJoe, 996 front is very well braced unless you are running slicks, and then you’ll have AOS failure or oil starvation before the strut brace helped anyway (almost joking). Every time I back out of my slightly down-sloping driveway and turn, one front wheel comes off the ground. Save the money and buy new engine or transmission mounts. That would make a notable difference.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks everyone, very useful information. I don't track my 996 . conclusion is it wont make any real difference on the road and not needed . :-)
