My alternator is out for rebuild (see my battery drain thread for how I finally got it out with butane torch !) anyway - anything else I should "inspect" while i have access ?

Suggestion

Kind of obvious, but a good time to replace any idler pulleys with worn bearings.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My alternator is out for rebuild (see my battery drain thread for how I finally got it out with butane torch !) anyway - anything else I should "inspect" while i have access ? Thanks

POST 2Original post

Kind of obvious, but a good time to replace any idler pulleys with worn bearings.

POST 3Original post

Check the leads to the alternator to makes sure they're in good shape. Some people have had hot start issues as these age and get corroded. Now's the time to do the oil fill tube if you want to do an annoying job... You might check the vacuum lines in that area to make sure there aren't any cracks or damaged parts.

POST 4Original post

oil filler tube. cheap and easy with the alternator out. they all eventually crack.
