Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I was wondering if anyone had ever put ski's in their 996? I don't want to spend the $600 on a roof rack as of right now (suggestions for a cheaper 3rd party roof rack are more than welcome) and I'm going skiing on Friday. Has anyone put them inside? Let me know how ya finagled them in there.

POST 2Original post

I did put skis in my 996 C4S on several occasions. I put the bottoms of the skis into the passenger's side footwell and placed the skis through the space between the front seats and into the back. This wasn't an ideal configuration because it blocks the passenger's seat and makes shifting gears a little bit more difficult. That being said, it worked fine.

lol I thought about sticking them through the sunroof! Dennis- that's a good idea I'll give it a shot! Anyone know of any roof racks that fit our cars besides the $600 oem's?

Driving up to the ski resort with the top down would be a bit chilly!

The biggest question here is if you are traveling solo or with a passenger. If you are solo, the passenger seat has a nearly flat fold if you move it all the way forward and then recline all the way with the passenger back seat in the 'up' position. Skis lay in there perfectly and I found that the frunk in my C4 fits a full-size boot bag nearly perfectly.

POST 7Original post

I do it twice a year as Dennis described. Once in Dec. to the Mtns. and to bring them home in March or April. Just protect your seats from sharp edges and bindings. I usually just lay down my ski jacket to cover the passenger seat. Easy fit, unless you have a passenger with you.
