Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Better to compare to TCOs of 911s in general, or the original (inflation-adjusted) price when new.

I had my top replaced a couple of years ago with OEM quality German A5 canvas for about $1800 including tax.

Well, if it's a "minor" repair, say $600 or less, I agree.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Getting ready to make an offer on a 2000 911 Carrera. PPI was fine, but there is a seam tear in the edge of the top above the drivers seat--pictured.
Is this repairable? If not, how much are new tops, installed?
Thanks for your help!
I'll guess and say "doubtful" that it can be repaired. The seam has pulled apart from the plastic ribbing.
New top $2000-$3000 plus installation and calibration. Check new prices here

I"m sure someone(upholster) could repair that single seam. Tops range from 699 used DIY to 3000 installed. I don't forsee your's being that big of a deal.
I had my top replaced a couple of years ago with OEM quality German A5 canvas for about $1800 including tax. You could probably repair that top but it has done it's time and should be replaced in the near future. Looking at that photo, I'm guessing that the tension cable is detached or broken. It goes from side to side, between the headliner and the top, and could be causing the buckling that you're seeing. That is a relatively simple fix.
You cant base repairs/maintenance on the asking price. Better to compare to TCOs of 911s in general, or the original (inflation-adjusted) price when new.
You nailed it Bill!
The Porsche dealer who did a PPI for me found a stretched cable on that side!
He also found enough other problems that I've walked from the deal.
Thanks to all for comments!
