Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

This is complete from 1998 to 2005, 17 binders. It is original and unused. It is very unique in that it also has technical bulletins in the manuals by group number, examples shown below. It ranges from a few to better than a hundred pages worth depending on the group. This was done by someone at Porsche.
I can't guarantee that all bulletins are there, I have no idea how to tell, but there is a lot of extra information. Browsing I found some from late 2004, I'm not sure there were more after that.
$750 USPS media mail delivered. My email is cs8815 at aol dot com
The binders are arranged as follows:
Group 0 – Entire vehicle, General
Group 0 – Diagnosis, Part 1 (Up to Repair Group 69)
Group 0 – Diagnosis, Part 2 (As of Repair Group 72)
Group 1 – Engine, Part 1 (Up to Repair Group 13)
Group 1 – Engine, Part 2 (As of Repair Group 15)
Group 2 – Fuel, Exhaust, Engine Electronics
Group 3 – Transmission, Manual
Group 3 – Transmission, Automatic
Group 4 – Running Gear
Group 5 – Body
Group 6 – Body Equipment, Exterior
Group 61 – Convertible Top, Hardtop
Group 7 – Body Equipment, Interior
Group 8/9– Air Conditioning/Electrics
Group 9 – Wiring Diagrams to 1999
Group 9 – Wiring Diagrams 2000 to 2003
Group 9 – Wiring Diagrams From 2004
You can download all that stuff for free. I forget the particular website, think it was a UK website. I downloaded all the 1999 996 manuals in a pdf format. Got the website info on RennTech.org
No offense taken, but I did read the rules before I posted, which say,
"If you want to post model-related items or cars for sale here, or request parts or cars wanted to buy, you MUST be a paid Rennlist Member.
Please include a detailed description and the asking price in all For Sale posts."
I'm paid and I think the ad is fairly detailed and it has a price:-)
If you are talking about mine, mine came from Porsche, they are originals. As are the bulletins within. Actually, can you edit your post if you are talking about mine?
This thread is pretty much why I have a low post count here. I hate threads like this.
I have a repair manual set I want to sell, so I post it. Should be easy, look, buy, don't buy, offer, don't offer. But no.................
First I get accused of downloading, printing, binding and making the correct binder tabs to make a copy, with no basis in fact. Then I guess I am supposed to have done that with tech bulletins, and sorted them into the proper groups. Do you realize how absurd that is? If you were doing that to make money, you'd be working for less than minimum wage. There are thousands of pages. If one were a real buyer and suspected that it was a copy, they'd ask to see page registration. Or a picture of a foldout wiring diagram. Otherwise it's just trolling.
Then I'm an enigma, because I don't post here often and use an AOL address? Read this thread, why would I post here often, the replies are silly. What does an email address have to do with anything? There are several thousand Porsche owners worldwide who have that address, why would I change it?
I have been on the email lists since 1999 or so, when Rennlist was John. I still am. I have two cars in my garage that I bought here in the early 2000's.
If one were not trolling and really wanted to know if I was legitimate there is a thing called Google. If I Google "5CHN3LL", I find you on several forums. You'll also find me on several. Try posting on Pelican Parts or Early S Registry, say that you are wondering if I am legitimate. Post a fake AOL address for that matter. One, I'll bet no one mentions your low post count, two no one will muse about an AOL address, (what the problem with that is still a mystery to me), and three, you'll get plenty of great references. Try it, I won't infuence anyone, let's see if I'm right. Unless of course you're trolling.
If you do try it, look at the response you get at either place and what I got here, and you'll understand why I don't post much here.
I was actually just remarking on the vintage of both your RL membership and your email address, not suggesting that you are some despicable fake. On the plus side, this is one of the more epic overreactions I've seen in a while.
I also wished you good luck with your item's sale...despite of what you've googled, this was not code for "zOMG he's an imposter!"
Sorry for bumping your for-sale thread and inadvertently pissing in your Cheerios...
(P.S. thanks for the Googling...nothing stokes my self-worth more than a good cyberstalking)
I was wondering the same thing. When you check his prior posts you will see that every single post is about selling various Porsche manuals from the Carerra GT to the 996. I think this is what members find strange. Maybe you could have explained how you have all the Porsche manuals and only joined Rennlist to sell them?
Otherwise it does seem unusual. The binders and manuals (even from your other "sales") look very clean to have been used dealer items. Check and you will see that his other "sale" threads were met with some skepticism as well. JMO of course.
Used dealer items? There are only two types of manuals, fakes and used dealer ones? Really?
Before you get all excited and dump some more on here, I said Porsche put the bulletins in. I did not say a dealer did it, these never saw a dealer. Nor have any that I've sold here, for that matter.
My threads were met with skepticism? You mean the one guy on the CGT thread who thought there should be more? That one and all the rest were met with real buyers.
If I saw somebody selling an original Carrera Club Sport fender decal for $100, I'd be skeptical. I've never paid less than $500. I'd probably PM him, but if I posted I wouldn't even say it was fake. I'd ask how he knew it was original.
Okay, so now I've posted on his thread. If he answers and says because the part number is stamped on the back, here's the number, I'd then buy it. If I wasn't a buyer I wouldn't post. I really wouldn't post wild speculation and innuendos. I wouldn't care how long he's been a member, how many times he's posted or what email provider he showed.
I can't imagine why anyone would post on a manual thread if they were not a buyer, there is nothng rare or mispriced here, just a set of 996 manuals.
I don't remember why I joined, that was ten years ago, why does it matter. I don't feel the need to discuss my cars or how I drive them or don't drive them, and I'm not a mechanic, no advice from me.
If "members" find it strange that I've sold what, five or six things here over the last ten years then..........I can't help them. A "member" who has gone to the trouble of looking me up might find it strange if the last post of any thread was "these are fakes, I want my money back".
OK, I give up and will ask.
How is that you have 993, 996, Carerra GT, Targa top, etc. "dealer" manuals but some are obviously the ubiquitous posted freebies?
They are "new" yet some of them look like copies?
Why would you join Rennlist just to sell Porsche manuals?
Why is every post you make selling said manuals?
You went from "user" to "member" when someone called you on it?
You posted no car photos and have a blank profile so do you actually own a Porsche?
This aint Ebay so we dont know your feedback. If you were an active member actually offering something to the forum instead of "just here to sell manuals" maybe you would be better received. Just asking bro so no offense. Hate to call BS but it really looks like your just DL'ing and making the manuals then passing them off as unused "dealer" manuals. I can and have offered up links to almost everything you sell and ask for nothing in return.
OK, I give up and will ask.
<Okay, I give up, you are the most absurd person I’ve dealt with, any forum. Let's go.>
How is that you have 993, 996, Carerra GT, Targa top, etc. "dealer" manuals but some are obviously the ubiquitous posted freebies?
<I have pretty much every manual there is, twice. Need a Carrera Cup manual? I have three. Older, maybe 356 Carrera? 15. Newer, CGT? Sorry, only one, not for sale. 996? Two. How on earth would you deduce that that they are freebies? I have no freebies, they are original Porsche manuals. Prove me wrong, please. Show me something, anything, in my post that causes you concern. Do you really think that anyone would print out, collate, bind, make tabs for thousands of pages to make money? Again, it would take forever, and I can't even believe I'm arguing this.> <Freebies, by the way, do you think Porsche thinks of them that way?>
They are "new" yet some of them look like copies?
<Again, to your master eye, how? I have people all the time emailing/sending me stuff to determine originality, I'll claim expert on that>
Why would you join Rennlist just to sell Porsche manuals?
<To sell Porsche manuals>
Why is every post you make selling said manuals?
<To make life easier for the DIY guys>
You went from "user" to "member" when someone called you on it?
<I did, I wasn’t paid, thought I was. Immediately rectified>
You posted no car photos and have a blank profile so do you actually own a Porsche?
<Edit, now three at the moment. 81SC, 84 Carrera, 88 Club Sport. No pictures, I get hounded about them already, two live outside and one is.............very rare>

<Again, tell me what the return would be on that? You have absolutely no basis to state that, just BS. Want to put some money on it? Really simple. You pick an expert, they determine if the manuals are real. If they are you buy them, if not I get a walk of shame. If you can’t agree to that there is no point in your posting here anymore, go away. If so let’s do this, tell me who your expert is, I’ll send them to him/her, and then I’ll tell them where they came from just for good measure. As you say, hate to call BS, but I just did. Your move>
Pretty easy to tell if they're the downloaded copies or not. Just check his 3rd scanned page... You can see his scanned copy looks like it was double punched. If the online PDF versions have that same double punch, he's a fraud...if not he's legit. Pretty simple, though I don't have a copy to compare
At least you have something legitimate to say. Take a closer look though, there are pages underneath the top one in scan three. I took a stack out and went to something that I thought was interesting, didn't scan the page by itself. Probably should have, though.
I'd scan it by itself but that would be more work than it's worth at this point. Speaking of such, I still find it really hard to believe that anyone would think someone would go to the trouble of doing all that, I can't even imagine how long it would take. Aside from all the wiring diagrams, three binders worth, there are a whole bunch of foldout pages, I'm not entirely sure where you would even get the paper to do that. I doubt at Staples.
If you really want to know I'll dig the page out, but the way you tell is dark circles, page registration and size. Registration is a little hard to show in scans, but it doesn't really matter, it's an original manual set, with the bonus of the tech bulletins.
In defense of 88cs and his offerings- I bought a set of 996 manuals from him-they seem to be the genuine article to me, and I felt they were good value.
