Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suspected cause
My hollow spokes are probably the easiest wheel I've ever cleaned.
Leading evidence: 'easiest wheel i've ever cleaned' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'easiest wheel i've ever cleaned' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean especially around the lug nuts' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

They also rapidly get seriously dirty and are a bear to clean, especially around the lug nuts.

I also use the turbo stick to clean inside my wheels without removing them.

Suggestion
As long as the wheels don't get wet they should stay clean quite a bit longer than you're used to.

I have the same wheels & use a soft nylon bristled broom w/ lots of suds---works great to get into the finite areas , is not abrasive to paint & no bending over or squatting req'd .
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Yeah, the wheels on my '04 Carrera are seriously attractive. They also rapidly get seriously dirty and are a bear to clean, especially around the lug nuts. I spend a chance more time working on the wheels than I do washing the rest of the car. Geez, I am so nostalgic for the mostly solid wheels and baby moon hubcaps with which we fitted-out our rides in the '50s and '60s. Paint the wheel black or body color, pop on them moons, and they looked So Fine...and so easy to keep clean. Early Porsches had a like arrangement. I'm thinking my '04 would look outstanding with moons. And I'd not spend hours trying to winkle-out filth from the many details in the current wheels....
I have the same wheels & use a soft nylon bristled broom w/ lots of suds---works great to get into the finite areas , is not abrasive to paint & no bending over or squatting req'd . You're right, these are attractive wheels---so don't get rid of them or paint them black . (my preference --do what you like

You should consider trying the boar's hair lug nut and trim brush from Adam's Polishes. It works very, very well on wheels - especially around lug nuts and in tight spaces.
Try a can of Armoral Wheel Protectant. On a cool, dry wheel apply a cloud in multiple directions to get into all the corners, and let it dry.
As long as the wheels don't get wet they should stay clean quite a bit longer than you're used to.
I think you'll be happy with that. I have several of their boar's hair and horse hair brushes and they are wonderful. I also use the turbo stick to clean inside my wheels without removing them.
I really like 10 spoke wheels. Ive detailed 100s of cars and 2 piece rims are stlyly but a pain in the ***. My suggestion would be to paint them gunmetal. Or/also buy a pressure washer and use mothers wheel cleaner. 90% dust will spray off. My hollow spokes are probably the easiest wheel I've ever cleaned. Only five fat spokes and easy access to calipers.
But back to my original, lame point: the 996 is blessed by simple, elegant curves. Wouldn't the equally simple retro wheels and caps of the '50s and early '60s, the dawn of the Porsche, look boss on it? And wouldn't THAT stand out in a crowd?
If I understand your vision, you're imagining big chrome caps (like the 356 wheel centers) on an otherwise solid wheel?
I think it would look a little Reich Motorsport (i.e. really, really early Volks), but that's just how I'm imagining it... the more modern wheels help make the look of the current cars for me.
The modern Fuch's style with painted black centers along with a duck bill rear spoiler would look retro while still fitting within the 996 lines IMO.
Moon discs might be too retro but I have a major boner for these though.
