Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'bad' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'bad' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check any alarm related error codes' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Both my spare and main key fobs have new batteries.
I can open the trunk 100% of the time, but the doors will only unlock when the button is pressed about 10% of the time.
I can see the red LED activating on the fob and sometimes I see the red LED on the dash respond, but rarely will the doors unlock.
Doors lock and unlock from the dash button as expected.
If I unlock the door using the physical key the alarm will sound if I don't start the car in about 10 seconds (I have not timed that).
Now, if I pull the battery out of the keyfob and wait about 30 seconds, reinsert the battery, it works again.
Spinning the battery to try to break any surface oxidation does not work. It is like the fob needs to be periodically reset every few days to keep it working.
My second hand info is erratic door lock operation, window behavior, can be due to water in the door.
Give each door a shake listening for any water noises. Check around each door's lower areas for any dampness.
Next check for any signs of dampness under the passenger seat. The security controller is located under the seat on the floor and it is at risk if any water gets in the cabin.
The only time my car manifested any abnormal door behavior was when the passenger side door lock assembly proved to be bad. The tech was able to read the error codes from the security module and eliminate other possible explanations.
The symptoms were not like what you are reporting though. The passenger door window would drop when the door opened but then go up afterwards. The doors would lock on their own and I would use the console button to unlock but sometimes they'd lock again as I drove down the street.
One "trick" to resurrect or reset a goofy acting key fob is to flip the battery 180 degrees for a moment.
But that both keys are acting up at the same time suggests to me the problem is not at the keys but elsewhere.
Sounds weird. Same behavior for both key fobs? Do you have Durametric to check for any alarm related error codes?
BTW, is the car battery in good shape?
It seems if you pull the keyfob battery for a short while and reinsert it, the door locks work.
After a few hours it fails again and you need to pull the battery and repeat...
I am sure Snowden probably has a yet to be released NSA Memo about this somewhere.
Is it a range issue? i.e., if you hold the key close to the driver's side a-pillar (the location of the remote system antenna), does it work more reliably?
There is a
TSB
to increase the operating range of the remote.
