Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion
If corrosion is the cause of the leak the condenser on that side needs to be carefully checked for corrosion and possibly replaced.
Leading evidence: 'Check corrosion and possibly' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check corrosion and possibly' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

(Generally there is more work involved in doing to the Turbo what is done to the NA models so almost every service or repair costs more for the Turbo.)

I get my car's oil/filter changed every 5K miles which works out to 2 maybe 3 times a year and every time I have the car in for service or repair I have the front radiator ducts cleaned out.

The spoiler hydraulic system costs around $2K to replace with new hardware.

In some cases where you can ID the items that are making contact and if you can reach them, you can use thin pieces of felt between the items to eliminate the noise.

When the car is in for one or more new radiators it might not be a bad idea to have the coolant drained and the system refilled using the vacuum lift system with fresh Porsche anti-freeze and distilled water blend.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all. I'm new here and this is my 3rd 911, 2nd turbo. My first was a 87, obviously wish I still had it.
I now purchased a 2004 996tt cab and I'm pretty impressed with how easy it drives and the torque is quite impressive ( my daughter won't ride w me anymore!).
A few relatively minor issues I'm going to address are that were uncovered in PPI are:
Cv boot broken, left front radiator leak, trans axle leak, door lock micro switch, wing hydraulic, hardtop mounts missing and a few other minor things.
However, one thing I did notice is that the cars interior makes quite a lot of noise. Seems like the entire dash just makes these plastiky noises from all over the dash area. Also, there's a regular knock on what sounds like the joint of the cab and windshield, sounds like someone striking the glass with a hard object.
Anyway, as long as my radios loud enough I can tolerate these things but I gotta say that interior noise is a real pet peeve of mine.
Other than the well deserved "it's a porsche, deal with it" advise, does anyone have any thoughts?
Car has no accident history but the front has been painted.
Thanks,
Seb NB.
First, pics?
Can never get enough.
Second - for the noises, if you can figure out where it is and post about it there is usually a fix. Alos there are Porsche TSB's about fixing the noises.
My car had a ton of them when I bought it. Drove me crazy, but after time they all seemed to disappear.
These things should be taken care of. The CV boots are bad about splitting as they get old. Mostly in front on the AWD's. Its a messy but fun job to rebuild the front axles. Bring on the pics.
Hey all. Glad Im not the only that finds that noises in the car seem to have direct contact with my nerve endings. I need a willing passenger or driver to get in the car with and try to track them down. As far as the repairs, (boot and radiator) Ill take the car to a local imports specialist (Bergen Imports in Northern NJ) for repairs.
I added some photos but not sure if those show up as my avatar or if you have to go into my albums to see them...
I must be getting old when I cant figure out computer stuff and have to look up words like avatar.
Well, I don't want to rain on your parade but I think you are going to find out those minor issues are not so minor after all.
The axle with the broken CV boot should be removed, cleaned and its bearing inspected and if found ok repacked and fitted with a new boot. Depending upon the miles you might want to have this done to the other side as well. My Turbo hasn't required this yet, my Boxster did and the cost was around $700/axle. The Turbo might be higher. (Generally there is more work involved in doing to the Turbo what is done to the NA models so almost every service or repair costs more for the Turbo.)
The left hand radiator leak is probably due to corrosion from trash that has been allowed to accumulate in the radiator duct. If corrosion is the cause of the leak the condenser on that side needs to be carefully checked for corrosion and possibly replaced. The radiator and the A/C condenser on the other side should also be inspected. Do not forget the center radiator either. At the same time all trash and dirt and such needs to be completely removed and going forward this trash/dirt needs to be removed periodically. I get my car's oil/filter changed every 5K miles which works out to 2 maybe 3 times a year and every time I have the car in for service or repair I have the front radiator ducts cleaned out.
When the car is in for one or more new radiators it might not be a bad idea to have the coolant drained and the system refilled using the vacuum lift system with fresh Porsche anti-freeze and distilled water blend. This helps reduce internal corrosion of the cooling system components and improves water pump bearing life.
Might also mention if the radiator ducts are full of trash then likely so are the body water drains. These should be located and inspected to ensure they are not blocked or even just trashed up with plant litter. If water backs up in one of these drains it can overflow into the cabin with generally disastrous effects on the car's electronics/electrics.
My 03 Turbo's 6-speed developed a selector shaft leak. Techs told me had this not been covered under warranty it could have been fixed but it would have cost around $6K to do so: Tranny R&R and tear down and seals and anything else found needing it replaced. As it was a new transmission was fitted -- under CPO warranty. A new tranny then was around $11K.
Door lock micro switch is not a real big issue. While so far none of my Turbo's door lock hardware, window hardware has needed any work I've had this work down on my Boxster. The cost ranges from $300 to $600 or thereabouts depending upon what's wrong/worn out.
The spoiler hydraulic system costs around $2K to replace with new hardware. Some owners have managed to fix any leaks in this themselves. Others have resorted to removing the hydraulic system and installing fixed spoiler support.
For dash noise that is often common with Cab's. The car flexes a bit more and the dash is stuffed with a lot of stuff and in flexing contact is made with adjacent stuff.
In some cases where you can ID the items that are making contact and if you can reach them, you can use thin pieces of felt between the items to eliminate the noise.

Nice. Sits very high. Are you going to leave it alone (if you live near snow)? I gather the aftermarket rims were seasonal, maybe?
Agreed, first 3 issues are not too minor. Also, I'll be sure to post under Turbo on subsequent posts.
Jc: come to think of it, it does seem to sit a bit high. Not sure what to make of it. Aftermarket suspension? I live in northern NJ so we def get snow but don't expect to take her out much during winter.
Love driving it but I do have to take her in for the repairs very soon. I'm afraid they'll give me the "call us late late next" for a update on repairs. I just don't it and not excited about giving it up right away.
