Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

2 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, driver side head light not working. All other light on unit functioning. Bought new $100 bulb and still not working. Switched new bulb to working passenger side and passenger ro driver side bulb swap. Passenger side works great and driver side still not working.. So bulb is not the issue and all other lights working well.. Ballast or thoughts on fix? 2003 3.6l 911 carerra 996. Thanks, Scott

POST 2Original post

If you have Litronic lights, swap the passenger side ballast to the drivers side and see if it works.

POST 3Original post

While you're in there, look at the wires on the headlight housing. Those often have brittle/broken/missing areas of insulation. That can be repaired with shrink tubing or liquid tape. Also check the seating of the housing. It can look correct, but not making good contact at the connector. GLWS

POST 4Original post

Dirty switch maybe? Several threads on that topic in this forum.

POST 5Original post

I'm also having trouble with my headlights but I've noticed they are taking time to turn on when the car is "cold". I know this doesn't make sense. They seem to not want to switch on later in the night when the temps drop. Earlier in the evening, the lights turn on at the first switch, no problem. Later in the night, it takes maybe 3-5 turns of the headlight switch to turn on with a prayer said in between. Both are affected, not just one or the other.
