Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check before you' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. That was to replace a Sears DieHard that I put in there for close to 5 years.

Suggestion
Should I have trouble with the battery, I won't have to go far to test/exchange it.

I normally buy them at Autozone, they won for best value at a battery torture test a few years ago.

I'm currently using Interstate brand too but if you google them, there's been more than a fair share of defective batteries with them too.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have had good luck with the Napa OEM fit I put in last year (the larger of two listed). It is very heavy but fits perfect and the cables attached perfectly. I suggest getting the larger one because these cars suck power on start up....especially when its cold. About $150.
I normally use Optima Red Top but there wasn't a direct fit option and I didn't want to deal with the necessary modifications for that install.
You will probably get a lot of opinions on this one. I got a new battery several months ago and opted for a Sears AGM battery at around $180. That was to replace a Sears DieHard that I put in there for close to 5 years. Sears are everywhere, they have a great warranty, I like the AGM and my old DieHard lasted a good amount of time.
I normally buy them at Autozone, they won for best value at a battery torture test a few years ago. There's only a few major battery manufacturers anyway, most of them are re-branded but identical inside.
Going on 4 1/2 years with the Walmart battery around $75 if memory serves me. Made by Johnson Controls and the specs are exactly the same as the Interstate battery for our cars. I too went with the larger size for the higher CCA's. Great battery so far!
I just put in an Autocraft AGM battery from Advance Auto Parts the other night. Direct fit, took about 5 minutes to swap. Was $164, and there is a $25 rebate on it.
My first choice was a Sears AGM, but my local Kmart, which looks like it will be closing any day now, didn't have it in stock.
Bosch 48 at Pep Boys last 2 I bought for customers. Go on line & they had a coupon broght price down to $115. 48 seems to be a European size & you pay a premium.
Is ripoff Engineer a recognized career path??
There are several AGM batteries sold by Autozone, Advance Auto Parts and Sears with very little difference in specifications. All are much better than other regular, non-AGM batteries. Buy the size H7 and it's an easy perfect fit. Make sure you attach the vent tube. They are sometimes sold with plastic plugs for the vent tube on both sides, so you'll have to remove the one on the passenger side and plug the factory vent tube into that.
Lead-acid batteries are not rocket science. Autozone batteries have been working well in my cars for years.
A $30 battery maintainer will result in a longer battery life, probably much more so than spending 2x or 3x on a German-sounding battery.
Here's another vote for AutoZone. I went Duralast Platinum for $185 out the door - I couldn't find a lower priced battery in my area.
Around here, there's an AZ on practically every corner. Should I have trouble with the battery, I won't have to go far to test/exchange it.
Slightly o/t, but I'm fascinated by the prospect of desulfating and refilling a battery that's otherwise salvageable. I have five cars and I may give it a shot when the next one gives out. Seems cheap and easy enough - if it really works.
Get a Deka (they are the guys that manufacture the braille batteries) but sell them at a normal price.

I gave Autozone 3 chances before. 2 of the batteries went dead. Some might think no big deal since they have a warranty and replacement program but it can cost you in time/opportunity costs if you get stranded somewhere. This was a few years ago, not sure if their QC on their batteries have improved since then. YMMV
I had the battery in my wife's car (not a Porsche) replaced at Pep Boys with a Bosch battery. I think it was a 7 or 9 year guarantee. It lasted 1 year. They replaced it for free. The second one lasted about 8 months. The third one is going on two years now and still working. I'm due for a replacement in my 996 but doubt I'll buy a Bosch.
I've had my 996 for 5 years and it still has the battery it had when I purchased it. Still working but can be a little balky when the temp hits the teens or single digits and I haven't used it for awhile. It's an Interstate and I'll see if I can get a direct replacement.
FWIW, I think there's going to be bad batches on all brands, some more than others. I'm currently using Interstate brand too but if you google them, there's been more than a fair share of defective batteries with them too.

Johnson Controls is the largest producer of private label lead acid batteries in North America, and is becoming a leader in Asia and South America. In 2000 Johnson Controls acquired Gylling Optima Batteries AB of Sweden. Johnson Controls completed the acquisition of
German automotive battery maker HOPPECKE Automotive GmbH & Co.
The company has a excellent customer base that includes many of Europes leading auto manufacturers.
Johnson Controls is not only the largest North American battery manufacture, but they literally control the North American battery market.
Johnson Controls manufactures batteries for the following private labels:
Interstate
, DieHard, Duralast, Kirkland, Everstart, ProStart, Acura, Advance Auto Parts, Autocraft, Western Auto, Tough One, Alliance, American Hardware, Ames, Varta, Blains Farm & Fleet, Battery Alliance,
Bosch
, Carrefour(Europe), Champion, Amara Raja Batteries LTD(Joint venture with Johnson Controls India).
Varta,
Optima Batteries
, LTH, and Heliar are all battery brands owned by Johnson Controls.
Johnson Controls also supplies numerous original equipment batteries. So next time you go and buy a battery, or a automobile chances are its a battery made by Johnson Controls.
Agm batteries should have some advantages - I got two bad ones from Sears but third is fine. If you go Sears route - buy it online for discount and pickup at store
Costco has been the best choice for years, price and warranty, now switched to Interstate, even better warranty.
AGM, much like K&N, TOTAL waste of $$$....
Just replaced mine, which was an interstate that was from 2006. I went with a Napa Legend series 8448 for $107, and it works great, and with a good 7 year warranty.
