I found the part for the handle on the door for $23 new, but can not find a write up on how to replace just that part.

Minor issue, but well, car is running perfect.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Minor issue, but well, car is running perfect. Slowly getting it perfect. The big stuff - engine/steering/suspension/convertible top, all great. Now I am after the little stuff. The visor mirrors don't have lids, the levers for the hood/trunk are worn, the silver "handle" on the compartment on the drivers door is worn, etc. I found the part for the handle on the door for $23 new, but can not find a write up on how to replace just that part. I am talking about the little silver thing on the door that opens the compartment on the door. I couldn't think of any good search terms. Anyone taken this part off or point me to a write up or good search terms. I am trying to do research first rather than the just tear it apart and break something and then have to replace the whole thing for more money.

POST 2Original post

Are you talking about #35 in this drawing http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=807-10 ? It's not showing any screws, so maybe it just pops or clips in...

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yep. That's it. I read somewhere about taking the cover off (Part #34) but I can't find the link and I don't want to break it during disassembly, which seems to be something that happens a lot to me when I try to fix something.

POST 5Original post

I think that's the screw that holds the entire "Lid" (that's what it's called in the drawing- pretty ambiguous) on...?

POST 6Original post

What does your new one look like? Attachment points should be fairly obvious when you look at the back of it.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Have not received it yet. Trying to be prepared. I remember a post about removing the cover by removing a spring and a rod with a screwdriver, but for the life of me I can't find it.
