Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

It probably saved my engine when it spun a bearing due to a sloppy repair by a P.O.
Leading evidence: 'Repair by a p.o' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Repair by a p.o' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

However, you can swap the filter whenever - you do not need to drain all the oil in order to change the filter.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've searched but I don't get exactly what I need to buy. Headed to autozone so the Napa reco won't work for me. Do I need an adapter and a filter? Please tell me exactly what to buy. I'm not mechanically inclined so seeking specificity. I REALLY appreciate your help.
If you didn't purchase an aftermarket spin-on adapter, you just need the filter element, which should be available at Autozone (Fram cartridge Autozone part number CH8278).
The cartridge looks like this:
You can't buy the spin-on adapter at Autozone - you need to order that online. However, you can swap the filter whenever - you do not need to drain all the oil in order to change the filter. You lose about a half-quart of oil when you remove the filter, so if you decide to add a spin-on adapter between changes, you can do so without wasting 9 quarts of oil.

rwiii,
Just an endorsement for this mod/upgrade. It probably saved my engine when it spun a bearing due to a sloppy repair by a P.O. Worth every penny imho.
There are several cross-referencable filters to the NAPA gold 1042. I seem to recall that a NAPA Platinum is NOT recommended (too restrictive?), however.
Full-flow filtration at startup with the spin-on adapter, rather than oil bypassing the filter at startup with the stock filter. This oil filter bypass can cause metal particles at the base of the stock filter housing to bypass the filter and be carried to the main bearings.
I really wish that people would stop repeating this. The spin on oil filters still have a bypass to prevent oil starvation at startup. Unless LN is selling a special spin on filter that they custom manufacture (highly doubtful), there's a bypass in it.
It would be great if they'd update their website to accurately reflect this.
