Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After one month of ownership and 1000 glorious but snowy miles on my 99 996, I got a CEL, codes P1124 and P1126. My INDY thinks its a vacuum leak and I confirmed that when warm, the throttle will dance little at idle, hunting for the default idle RPM. I have an appointment on Wednesday to do some diagnostics including the smoke machine. Will report with the final diagnosis. Also, I wanted to have the gearbox oil changed. The car has 87k now and I have no idea when / if the fluid had been changed. Trying to keep it transmission healthy. What kind of fluid do you all use for this and how many quarts should I buy? Thanks, Bob

POST 3Original post

If it's a stick shift, you need 2.7L so three 1L bottles from Porsche. Best is to stick with genuine Porsche fluid if you don't want any shifting problems. 87k is overdue and I'm sure you will feel the difference with the fresh fluid.

POST 4Original post

If you are not sure when fluids were changed. Change them all. Brake, Coolant, power steering, Engine oil, that should keep you busy for starters. Is that the original car color? If you are out in the snow, make sure that car has snow tires on it as the C2 cars like to travel **** end first when traction is lost.

POST 5Original post

288K miles on my 02 Boxster's original untouched 5-speed and I use the Porsche transmission fluid. The transmission is still quiet and shifting is like a hot knife through butter. Be sure you do not put off the brake fluid/clutch fluid flush/bleed. I have found that letting this go to just 2.5 years (vs. the 2 years it is scheduled) can impact the hydraulic clutch action and affect not only the clutch but the shifting as well.
