We used the OBD reader and cleared the fault, this also cleared the PSM fault and the car has been running great in auto and manually through the gears for a couple of weeks.

If so is this a fix that possibly requires a sensor to be cleaned, replaced, wiring issue etc.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Guys, Firstly i would like to say what an awesome group this is. So very useful. I recently got a 1999 911, auto. It was parked up unused for 8 years. Fresh fuel and a new battery to get it on the trailer. When we first got it we had a fault, the PSM fault light was on and the 'P' and '4' gear indications were flashing. looking on here some people had this when changing out/flat battery and cleared the fault P0706. We used the OBD reader and cleared the fault, this also cleared the PSM fault and the car has been running great in auto and manually through the gears for a couple of weeks. The battery went flat and this fault re-occurred, this time I can clear the fault but when selecting reveres there is a delay, the lights for gear indication go out and it clonks into reverse then the flashing dash lights come back on. The PSM fault returns and the manual gear selection stops working. I can clear the fault and all is great until selecting reverse. The OBD says he P0706 is a transmission sensor circuit A. Has anyone else experienced this? If so is this a fix that possibly requires a sensor to be cleaned, replaced, wiring issue etc. Being new to this im wondering if anyone could suggest a good place to bu parts from. Thanks in advance!
