I thought for a while that it might be a lifter but I now think it's probably the chain tensioner mentioned above as well based on where the noise is coming from.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Guys my 99 C2 Cab seems to knock for about 15 seconds on a cold start then disappears, could it be lifter/ or anything serious Thanks in advance

POST 2Original post

If it's really a knock, that's bad. If it is a rattle, this is a common issue. Maybe a sound file, since it's hard to guess what you're describing? Here's some excellent info from Byprodriver (although not from this site originally) describing the rattle that many of us with MY99 cars are familiar with:

POST 3Original post

My 99 does the same thing. I thought for a while that it might be a lifter but I now think it's probably the chain tensioner mentioned above as well based on where the noise is coming from. Mine only does it on cold starts after sitting a week.

POST 4Original post

+1 same with my 99. Only when sitting for a week or so.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks guys sounds like a common issue,it does only do it after sitting a while and goes away in 15 seconds then sounds fine all the time, forgot to mention it only has 51K on it,what a great car,i have this one and a 2014 Cayman S and I like the 99 just as much as the Cayman
