Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

He replaced the coolant tank and it has never leaked again, however when I got it back it started to make a weird sort of rubbing sound under 800 rpm.
Leading evidence: 'Replace coolant tank and it has never leaked again, however' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace coolant tank and it has never leaked again, however' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Of course take this diagnosis with a BIG pinch of salt, the SWAG method was used here.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey guys I have a 27,000 mile carrera 2001 stock and I recently had a coolant leak so i took it to a shop to get it replaced. The shop deals with porsches and the is very reputable in my area. He replaced the coolant tank and it has never leaked again, however when I got it back it started to make a weird sort of rubbing sound under 800 rpm. Basically for me to replicate the sound the rpms must drop under 800 as it only makes the sound at less than 800 rpm, this means that when i let out the clutch (no gas) and let it move on its own it will make the sound. The sound also happens during a very warm start the rpms will go up and struggle for the first couple of seconds as it makes the noise but eventually it stays back to 800-900 rpm at idle and stops making the sound. The sound is like the engine is rubbing against something I have no clue what it could be ive tried googling and looking at forums but too no avail? Does anyone know what this could possibly be?
Any chance you could record the noise with your iphone and post to YouTube then provide the link here? That would help greatly since the describing noises tend to be very subjective and go in many directions.
Okay, I'll try not to be sarcastic....but...you had a shop do some work on your car....okay. Now you have a "rubbing sound at 800 RPM". I don't know what that means. Now here is what to do. Open the engine lid, yes, the engine lid. Open it up and look in there. Start the car. Now listen, left, right, left, right and slightly up and down. Can you hear the "rubbing sound"? Describe where it is coming from. Water pump? Idler pulley? One of the other pulleys? Alternator? Or just a general "rubbing sound"? Very difficult to help with a general "I have a rubbing sound" from my engine....maybe engine mounts? See, look, listen....
Take the car directly back to the reputable shop that did the work. If the sound was not there before they did the work, and has only appeared after they worked on it, its on them.
Could be just some belt noise after some coolant/ethylene glycol was dripped on the belt during coolant tank removal.
