Interesting car, and I don't mind the colour, but some minor changes would be required to suit me.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

34 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...76893196&Log=0 Yes, I know it's blingy, yes it does have those massive graphics on the side. A bit overpriced, but I think they would move some just because I'm maybe the only buyer on planet Earth. So, see if you can find some of those 'vomit' emoticons out there!

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Nope, driving it once in a while as I fix little things. Happy with the 928, but still thinking a 996 once in a while. I was a bit bummed that I had to do a TB/WP so soon after buying but I got it sorted ok. I just run across bright cars once in a while like a fish chasing a lure.

POST 4Original post

That is not a C4S. Interesting car, and I don't mind the colour, but some minor changes would be required to suit me.

POST 5Original post

Not crazy about the headlight fix, but the rest sort of works.

POST 6Original post

Did anyone read the description? It's as bad as the car itself imo. I wonder which is valued more, the 2000 "4S" model or the 996 "GT-S"?

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Maybe it's got the Porsche tractor diesel in it. I"m not also happy with the headlight thing, maybe it'll come off without too much trouble.

POST 9Original post

It looks like the little green gob in the Mucinex commercials.

POST 10Original post

I looked real hard for the "aero kit" as listed in the description, but I couldn't find it. "GT3 Areo kit so she's really more of a GT than a sports car in the traditional sense.." Wut? Copy writer doesn't know what an aero kit is, or what a GT car is. Did the 2000 model really come with multi-zone climate control? Or are the two zones "inside" and "outside" when the top's down?

POST 11Original post

Quotes source post: 11935928

Obviously the headlight covers weren't part of the $7k repaint they did. Also the only remotely Aero kit on there is only the cheap front $24 ebay lip splitters. $5k rims better consists of HRE and Michelins. As for the previous owner was an actress, maybe they meant singer? I know Missy Elliot used to have a Lambo in the same color. Maybe she graduated to the Lambo after her career took off?

POST 12Original post

Clearly the seller knows a lot about the 996, so I wouldn't be nervous at all to purchase this car.

POST 13Original post

Thankfully, part of the Autotrader interface was covering that **** on the front bumper - I didn't notice it until you commented on it.

POST 14Original post

my memory is failing but I swear I have seen this car listed for sale before....it is very striking and NOT easy to forget

POST 15Original post

Why would a mid time actress put a C4S badge on the back of a C2?

POST 16Original post

Quotes source post: 11936172

I have seen it before on ebay as I recall. Doc: The 996 is such an AWESOME car, you need to get one and then do the "Fister" exhaust mod.....OMG, over the top.

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I might make them a lowball offer. I got a nice bonus this Dec. I rode in a few, and I like them ok. What bugs me is all the gray, black cars out there, and how few have the IMS repair.

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

more pics here; http://s1145.photobucket.com/user/AU...tml?sort=3&o=3 Those headlamp surrounds have got to go.

POST 19Original post

Quotes source post: 11936396

Me too I can't stand all the gray, white, black, charcoal gray, etc. Lack of hue. But this color is hard to pull off on a plain jane. GT2 or GT3 or TT OK. C2, not so much. Hell, maybe you should buy it and put a GT3 tag on it! Perhaps no one will notice what's really missing.

POST 22Original post

I think I'll stick with my "boring" black cab...

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The thing about the color is that Porsche does charge a hefty price for paint to sample. It's not like you are going to drive to a PCA convention and see another one. Row, after row, after row of black and seal gray, the lime green sparkle will certainly be easy to spot. If only it had the cabrio hard top in same color.

POST 24Original post

This car was discounted to $15k few months ago. One of the rennlist members with bad comprehension posted "OMG look at this thing at $30k" thread, but failed to read that the guy was advertising it for 1/2 of the listed price. So offer the guy $13k, meet at $15k if you want it.

POST 25Original post

Quotes source post: 11936470

The colour works one something with a bit more character like the GT3, but on this noooo!

POST 26Original post

I don't know. Get it for a good price, take of the crazy front lip spoiler, restore the headlights to the natural glory, some normal rims, remove the S and I think it would look good. The color is definitely unique. As far as looking good on a GT3 but not a regular Carrera, the only people that can tell the difference are Porsche guys, and who cares what they think. They have no taste. I have heard some of them don't even like the 996 headlights.

POST 28Original post

there's a porsche for everyone - i'm not feeling this green lol

POST 29Original post

I could deal with the green. Even the head light trim if it were THE CORRECT green. All in all, for the right price, I wouldn't have a problem driving this car. Particularly knowing that you can fix the things that bother you. Now, if the color bugs you, that is a somewhat larger problem.

POST 30 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 11938563

Well spoken, and I appreciate it from an owner of a silver car. I like the color, it does it for me. Of course, I can't buy a GT3, and agree that most of the issues are fixable. I may run up there this wknd, but I gotta clean the lake house first. Grrrr, first world problems.
