So after I checked 3 different times for leaks in that area, today I saw a drop of coolant around one of the bleeder valve bolts, right around the bolt's head....

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I need to tight these bolts and the small sockets that I have do not grab a good grip on it...

POST 2Original post

yeah looks like there's not much to grab on to ... have you tried metric 5mm? that's what the a*toatlanta diagram says http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=105-20

POST 4Original post

Ahsai is right (as usual), I tried mine and it's 7mm. Like a lot of small (and short head) bolts, the fit is loose, even in the correct size socket.

POST 5Original post

Be careful. Those bolts thread into plastic and its very easy to strip. Ask me how I know.

POST 6Original post

If you're using 12-point sockets, that may contribute to your trouble. On smaller and/or rounded off bolts, a hex socket may work better...

POST 7Original post

If it's still leaking after you tighten up the bolts, the green o-rings and the diaphragm underneath may be bad. Don't over-tighten the bolts, the sealing is done by the o-rings and the diaphragm. See the photos here https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...lve-works.html

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks guys, I re-tighten the bolts and as of this morning after my commute, I checked for leaks and it was bone dry! Hopefully that was the issue but I will keep re-checking. The tank was installed on last July and I bought it from Pelican.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So after I checked 3 different times for leaks in that area, today I saw a drop of coolant around one of the bleeder valve bolts, right around the bolt's head.... My assumption is that small amounts of coolant are traveling through the bolt's body and escaping through the head area. I am getting tired of this so I am going to return it for a replacement unit.
