Suggestion
You will need to run speaker wire from the new unit to the wires that are outputs on the JL AMP.

Suggestion
Should be able to just run speaker wire from continental to the frunk and connect them to the speaker wires coming out out of the amp (after you disconnect them from amp).

Or I need to run wires directly from the head unit to the AMP?

The continental unit does not have fiber or RCA outputs, just reg old speaker wire outputs so you will not be using either AMP in the Frunk.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi All,
Recently purchased my C2 and Id like to convert the current Kenwood double din back to a single din, but unsure exactly what is required on two fronts:
1) The MOST situation and my current wiring modifications
2) The physical requirements to accommodate the HVAC and a new single din unit up top
Any experts in this space who can advise?
Thanks,
Joe
I can’t comment on the MOST system as I have a 996.1 that originally had the base system. You will probably have to locate a new plastic dash piece that goes around the radio and HVAC as to do a double-din the middle plastic piece needs to be cut out. Hopefully I’m being clear - but if you look at a car with the original radio you will see what I’m talking about. You will also need the original mounting brackets for the radio and HVAC. If your car originally came with navi then you would need new plastic and brackets anyway as that system was a double-din from the factory.

For those who currently have a double din and are looking for an upgrade, I've just listed a Kenwood DDX3768BT in the classifieds:

I'll be going with a Continental unit; I have one in my Turbo and I love it. A have a very basic need for my audio setup - a period correct aesthetic and bluetooth audio. I don't pine for more than that, personally.
Looks like you have the original (assume disconnected) and an aftermarket Amp so you are covered either way depending on what type of output is on that aftermarket unit being fiber or RCA.
I looked up that continental unit using the model number off your picture. You will need to run speaker wire from the new unit to the wires that are outputs on the JL AMP. That should get you going for that part. The continental unit does not have fiber or RCA outputs, just reg old speaker wire outputs so you will not be using either AMP in the Frunk.
That's good news. To summarize for the sake of future conversions:
Going with the same exact unit that I have in the Turbo:

Universal Harness:

Will need single din frame (part number?) that accomodates HVAC and Single DIN up top
HVAC Mounts
996.573.501.00
New Storage cubby for lower section where HVAC was originally 996.552.243.01
Does that about cover it?

I'm a little confused here, but may be reading this wrong: with the Continental unit, I have no need for the JL amp? Or I need to run wires directly from the head unit to the AMP? If the latter, I'd prefer just to ditch the AMP if possible?
Continental has no output for an amp as it was designed for a non-amp non-bose system. The speaker wires to speakers would be in the frunk hooked to your aftermarket amp at this point. So... Should be able to just run speaker wire from continental to the frunk and connect them to the speaker wires coming out out of the amp (after you disconnect them from amp). I have no idea how the sound quality will be though. Guess you are going to let us know though.
