Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
Porsche recommend M1 and there are owners out there who just follow the recommended oil change and drive the heck out of their car, day in and day out as if they stole it and never burn a drop of oil, nor have sooty tailpipes, nor have ticks or knocks from their engine.
Leading evidence: 'Recommend oil' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend oil' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

All oil in these cars should be changed 6 months of 5k whatever is longer.

Personally I just don'tthink using any oil will magically prevent bore scoring.

And on the other hand, there are some who treat their cars with kids' glove, always garaged, following a ritual methodology of how to drive their car from cold start to fully warmed up, to using the most expensive oil, to sending their oil off for analysis on every oil change, and yet get bore scoring.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Does DT40 provide longer engine life from less overall wear or bore scoring or ISB failure than the below M1? Porsche knows more about M96 engines than anyone and they sell 5w-50 for 996s so maybe M1 will enable our motors to last longer?
This M1 has Porsche A40 approval, 1000 PPM phosphorus and 1100 zinc (mid-SAPS?), is rated HT/HS (high temperature/high shear), and costs 1/2 to 1/4 less than DT40. What engine related advantages if any for DT40?

I would say if your car gets bore scoring, you can easily blame the oil as the culprit, but there is really no hard evidence that proves beyond any reasonable doubt that bore scoring is related to the kind of oil used.
BTW, personally I don't use M1 and I wouldn't vouch for any oil ether for that matter.
Just my 2 cents worth.
I'm going with what Charles Navarro has recommended since he's spent a great deal of time in the 20+ researching and developing solutions for our cars. He's done a lot of research on oil as it applies to the Porsche 996.

Mobil 1 is junk. Ok it’s sorta decent but spends a ton of money on marketing. The secret oil is motul xcess. It’s great and ridiculously cheap on amazon and was approved by Ln for a long time. Lubro/liqui moly is very good too. Tons of interesting tech discussions. If I had the best 996 ever I would put Gibbs dt40 in it. All oil in these cars should be changed 6 months of 5k whatever is longer.
Im going to leave this here for anyone that wants to delve into the minutia of tribology.

And I also Id like to point out that there was an FTC lawsuit involving synthetic oils, and to sum it up, we lost. Thanks to legal decisions, the M1 sold today is inferior to the original M1.
Go read up if you are so inclined.
The "Original" M1 destroyed many engines,, the Moly formula would settle out in to little abrasive beads in the engine.. (Circa 1972)
We had 2 shop trucks get brand new engines courtesy of Mobile 1.. And multiple customer vehicles.
The additive package came apart at high temps and crystallized out of the oil...
