I'm running sport Cats and fabspeed maxflos which are quieter then the fister mod was on my car.

Suggestion
Unless you're running aftermarket hiflow Cats your car might be OK with Fister only.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hoping to be @L-S with PCA in june. Anyone with stock 996 and Fister (or similar) mod have experience with 92dB limit? Expensive trip if you get out there and black flag during first session...
Thanks
I believe the limit there is actually 90dB. Either way I doubt it. But I'll find out on the 19th if my car passes with maxflos, which are a lot quieter on my car then with Fister modded mufflers. I have sport cats however which makes a difference with either setup.
Not a chance in hell but.... you can run with POC at Laguna the weekend of June 28-29 with a 105db sound level. We're hosting 2 race groups and 1 DE/TT group of 35. The weekend is shared with The Pirelli Cup group and will be a blast to drive and watch.
Registration should be up on our website in a few weeks....

At what distance is this measured? I have access to a decibel meter and can check. Mine are PSE mod mufflers with extra hole in internal sound wall so it should be close to yours.
I downloaded an app for my iPhone that is an sound meter. Its actually pretty accurate and free. I use it at the track to check out the sound levels for our corner crews. Where the sound is measured plays a big part on readings and also if your WFO as you pass the detection section. Luckily we don't have sound restrictions at my home track (CTMP) as most of our GT1 class cars would be parked.
The sound booth is at turn 5 and they point the meter past the turn and check you accelerating out of turn 5 up the hill. I'd say the booth is between 50 and 75 yards from the turn but that is just a guess.
thanks all for the feedback & ideas. I'll update this post after the drive. Thinking that lifting on the uphill straightaway before corkscrew is a reasonable preventative measure. jrgordon, out of town for the POC weekend but sounds like a blast.
Did the HOD track day at LS monday with no sound issues. I short shifted up the hill until the last session where I left it in 3rd which got the car into the upper rev range past the booth. No meatballs. Didn't hear of anyone else getting one either. I'm running sport Cats and fabspeed maxflos which are quieter then the fister mod was on my car. Unless you're running aftermarket hiflow Cats your car might be OK with Fister only.
Nobody enforces HMS decibel limit, ever. Actually surprised there is one. I've been tracking there for 4 years and plenty of race cars doing DE that are earsplitting loud. As it happens I'll be down there on Saturday with PDG.
^^^That's just bunch of crap. If you decide to live next to a track then you should deal with the noise.
On the other hand I have gemballa cans that are gundo hacked which are not that loud so basically you can not have any modified exhaust on that track?
This sound level crap is invading everywhere. I know that Mont Tremblant just got the lawsuit dismissed and sanity has prevailed over the "new neighbors. Lime Rock Park in CT is subject to a noise level injunction and, except for dedicated (read rare) unmuffled days I believe that the limit for Lime Rock Park is 88db. I have the fister mod on my 996 and so far, I have never been flagged- I also recently added high flow cats and x-pipe and 2 events this year at LRP no flags. Having said this, a lot will depend on the weather, pressure and foliage when the sound ****'s take their readings. Don't know about LS, but I think it is dust and desert so no foliage, but clouds, pressure, etc. can affect the db reading..........good luck.
If you don't enjoy the music made on a track go live somewhere else. People pay to go to the track to be able to drive the way they cant drive on streets. I would love to live by a track, I would sit on my patio day in and day out with a beer and enjoy the music that comes from there.
Ran FisterD's w/ 92dB and had no issues, no lift. Stock muffler gave 88dB.
Didn't get a sound check w/ Fisters. I now have Fister w/ 200 cell. No way
will it pass now, especially w/ 90dB days being more common. 3.4L no other
motor mods.
