Hi everyone: I'm in the process of replacing both window regulators and I'm working on the drivers side right now. The remove/install was fairly easy but I'm trying to adjust per the factory repair manual and it's frustrating. It says I should insert a piece and paper and I should not be able to remove it with the window closed. One the flat portion of the window it does exactly that-I cant remove it without tearing the paper. But when I move the paper towards the A pillar on the curved portion and the 45 degree slope portion I can pull out the paper. The manual doesn't specify if the paper should be not removable anywhere along the window, or just the horizontal part of the window. I don't know whether to move on to the passenger side or keep adjusting. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Howard 2003 996TT 1993 Rover Mini

You probably made one mistake. You did not mark where the bottom regulator bolts were attached to the door. Getting the window rake adjusted right without those reference marks is a black art. It doesn't help either if you did not mark the position of the window glass in the regulator. Good luck!

Get out the garden hose and spray that glass. If water gets inside the car, keep adjust it. If not, your work is done.

Thanks guys. Imo000 I will try your suggestion with the water. I'll also drive the car to see if I'm getting wind noise. DBJoe996 I will definitely mark everything on the passenger side before I undo any nuts. Howard
