Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
Ill throw it on if I wont be using the car for a couple days and find the covers protect the paint well from the elements, especially UV as the southern summer sun can cook a cars paint off if its left sitting there.

But I seldom use the cover as the car must be clean and dry and it is seldom either.

for all season/all weather outdoor use, I have been a fan of NOAH (by Covercraft):
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi Everyone, I'm afraid that I might be at the point where I have to leave my 04 996 out in the driveway until I sell my 84 944. If that happens I'd like to buy a really good cover and am very interested in what you all would recommend... Thanks, Ralph
Can't go wrong with the factory cover. I've had both the outdoor and indoor versions. Only thing I would say is to not get one if you're constantly going to be taking it on and off as it will allow more chances for scratches. Also, if you're getting an outdoor version, always buy a new one.
Honestly, don't cover it. Give it a good coat of wax and just rinse it off whenever it's starting to look dirty.
Outdoor covers are a recipe for disaster. You really have to be careful that you're covering a car that's perfectly clean. Otherwise you risk the cover blowing around and scratching the crap out of the paint.
I agree as it really isn't meant for daily drivers. You should only cover it after it's been washed for longer term storage more than anything else. Otherwise, skip the cover if it's for a daily driver.
Second this. I bought a Porsche outdoor cover for my Boxster. The cover quality is quite good.
But I seldom use the cover as the car must be clean and dry and it is seldom either.
I leave the car outside year 'round and when it gets dirty I wash it. I avoid parking it under trees or around plants that can shed plant trash (leaves, blossoms), sap, or are favored by birds.
I picked up a like new weathertech for my 911, its been great so far.
From a RL memeber. Was suprised to see that they were over 300.00
new, so I grabbed this one as it was barley used. Had nice tethers to keep it in the car and the fit is snug but not so bad that its hard to take on or off. Would love for it to say front or rear as I sometimes forget how I rolled it off
Very interesting replies everyone, especially about no cover. He's not a daily driver and usually gets on the road 1-3 times a week. I have fully tinted windows and a really good sun shade for the windshield so we'll have to see what happens. If I sell the 944 then there is no issue but if not I'll have plenty of good advice to mull over. Thanks, Ralph
As one who often has more cars than garage space I do depend on covers and come have come to find the Covercraft Evolution 4 (if thats what its still called) my preference. Ill throw it on if I wont be using the car for a couple days and find the covers protect the paint well from the elements, especially UV as the southern summer sun can cook a cars paint off if its left sitting there.
Just make sure the cover fits well, the car is clean and leave it on and find another ride if the cover freezes to your car!
thanks everyone for the great advice on a cover for my 996. I'm especially flattered by the kind words about my 944 and the amount of PM's received. For those that asked here's the listing for his official For Sale post!
