Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Is there any way to lock out the passenger air bag even if it is on a per trip bases? Is there a plug under the seat? My local dealer is some distance away and quite expensive so I'd rather avoid going there. Thanks in advance, Paul

POST 3Original post

Does this work by simply connecting the two terminals together on the plug? If so you could attach a switch to it and turn it off and on when needed.

So, like the article says, I will need to go to a dealer.

POST 5Original post

There are *threads on forums that show the circuit and ways to make a "switch box" that will mimic the factory setup. They all have to be "turned on" by a PWIS at a dealer (small chance with a home made unit) or an independent with one. Plus why are you turning it off? To protect your offspring? Why stick them in front of a potentially fatally explosive device with a cobbled up defuser? * http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic...on/#entry47052

POST 6Original post

some dealers are refusing to install and program airbag activation. On the other hand I also found other dealers will update the program for free if you buy the kit from them rather than online. So call around and make buddies with service advisors. I bought my car long distance in Houston. A quick stop at north Houston Porsche dealer got my car set up so my co pilot for the trip so he could ride safely next to me. I recommend NOT to mess with a home brew deactivation. It can become more costly than a trip to the dealer in many different ways.

++This. I would not even try to do this. Next thing you'll be looking for is a new passenger side air bag, and perhaps a new passenger.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
