Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I replaced a torqued/twisted oil pan because of an IMS Guardian hit a few months back.
Leading evidence: 'Replace torqued/twisted oil pan' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace isn't' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
Dropping the pan in addition to a normal oil change isn't that much work.

Suggestion
It is there more to prevent anything snagging on the sharp 90deg part of the front edge of the oil pan if you end up running over something so that it doesn't snag and get caught on the pan but rather facilitate the object to roll under it.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just to post another data point.
I was driving on my country roads and full compression after a rise in the road led to a cracked pan.
Was about 1/2 mile from home. Heard hit, maybe a rock or small pothole was at issue, so when I got home peeked under back and saw the oil coming out of the Guardian Plug.
1999 C2. Stock suspension.
It has/had an IMS Guardian. Also a skid plate.
The guardian sticks down past the skid plate. So, that hit and cracked itself and created a few cracks radiating from where it screws into the pan.
Total repair, with full oil change at dealer. (i took there in case it caused a bigger issue so an insurance claim could be made).
New stock pan. Oil change. $802.
Debating whether or not to reinstall guardian due to the clearance and DD status of my rig in all weathers.
Does the skid plate mount to the engine or elsewhere? If elsewhere, could your motor mounts be old enough to be contributing to the guardian hanging too low?
Yes the skid plate mounts to the motor. You might want to look at your shocks too and make sure they are up to snuff. If you put some weight on your corners (try them all) does the body feel stiff (little rebound) or a little spongy?
The optional oem skid plate IMO isn't that great as I've stated before. It doesn't really do anything for compression or vertical loading imo. It is there more to prevent anything snagging on the sharp 90deg part of the front edge of the oil pan if you end up running over something so that it doesn't snag and get caught on the pan but rather facilitate the object to roll under it. I have one and already had the mounting tabs compress on a little hit. I bent it back and am using it more for the running over something protection aspect of it.
Sad to hear about your damage.
Is it possible to fit a larger diameter wheel+tire combo to increase ground clearance a little . New springs+shocks was a good previous hint.
My skid plate has sustained some damage too - but the last time I had it off, the sump plate looked pristine - so I guess it is doing its job...
I would be much more concerned if the oil plug extended past the skid plate - seems like it would be far too easy to snag on a rock or freeway debris...
Bummer.
That's a hefty price, if you ask me.
Dropping the pan in addition to a normal oil change isn't that much work.
I replaced a torqued/twisted oil pan because of an IMS Guardian hit a few months back. Nothing as dramatic as yours, but the threads of the pan were twisted, allowing a slow leak.
100% get an X51 oil pan as a replacement. I think it's a no-brainer and doesn't cost much more than the stock pan and doesn't hang lower than the stock pan, like the deep sump pans do.

Don't have a pic but it mounts in 3 places....in front of the oil pan and on each side. The mounting areas on the motor are existing locations that are used to attach the water hoses (the hard hoses) around the oil pan.....the bolts are re-used.
Understood.
Ask for the X51 pan. I believe it is only ~$125 more and provides metals baffles and a small divider at the front of the pan to help prevent oil starvation to one side of the pan.
