Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Intermittent Mirror Tilt?
Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Seems there are no other threads on intermittent mirror tilt in a 996.2 (03 C4S). Is anyone else experiencing this problem? My passenger side mirror will not dip reliably when I shift into reverse. It will only do it occasionally, and when it does, it will typically not return back to the usual position after shifting out of reverse. I don't think it is the reverse switch that is causing this problem (the back-up lights come on reliably when I shift into reverse). If you have any experience with this, please pass it along..... Thanks!

POST 2Original post

I had a similar experience with my 2002 Boxster. I ended up purchasing a new one which resolved the issue.

That is what I do when any problems arise with my car. I just go buy a new one. That always resolves the problem I have found.

Although you don't think its the reverse switch, this is what happened to my mirror when the switch was going out. Intermittently not moving. Eventually, it stopped moving altogether which is also when I noticed the reverse lights went out. In any case, I'm not a fan of throwing parts at a problem but the reverse switch is cheap and easy to change. Its worth a go before you change the mirror. I can't even imagine what that would cost, or if you could get one painted the color of your car.
