Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Any use tire skates/ car dollies for winter storage? Looking to gain some space in my garage. Some models have bolt ends with nuts that hit wider tires. Any brands youd recommend?

POST 2Original post

Do a search as there were quite a few threads on the topic. I bought 4 dollies from Harbor Freight, all metal. With the car on the dollies I can barely push it around. Front to back is not bad, but side to side is nearly impossible as the wheels always turn in the wrong direction. My rear tires (stock size 295/30-18) just fit between the nuts on the dollies. I have a smooth garage floor with a slight pitch up towards the back (where the car gets parked for the winter) and it is hard to move the car around. There are higher quality dollies out there. It all depends on what you want to spend.

POST 3Original post

^^ This ^^ Moving the car around on dollies is really a two man job (in most garages)...

POST 4Original post

I have Go-Jaks, made in Connecticut. Not cheap, but extremely well made. I use them to move my 914 around, and I have used them for the SC and the 996. I find I must place the rear wheels on some 1by pieces of wood to prevent the back wheels of the dolly from hitting the sway bar mount. I do have a smooth floor, and find it easy to move all of the cars.
