I've cleaned the MAF, cleaned the IACV, tightened every hose clamp, ensured every vacuum line was firmly in place, and I have no codes.

I even swapped the MAF and IACV over from my 1999 Boxster Base to my 996 with no effect on the idle issue.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

When I was filling up my 996, I notice the idle kind of dipped and rose. Is this a sign of a vacuum leak ?

POST 2Original post

I'm having the same issue with my 1999 996 C2, idle meanders between 750 and 800 rpm, and when driving and I let off the gas the rpms drop to about 500 before coming back up to 750. I've cleaned the MAF, cleaned the IACV, tightened every hose clamp, ensured every vacuum line was firmly in place, and I have no codes. I even swapped the MAF and IACV over from my 1999 Boxster Base to my 996 with no effect on the idle issue. I'm obviously missing something. The car runs fantastic other than this one issue.

POST 3Original post

I don't get it. You left the car running at idle and filled it up, then the idle dipped and rose? Do not fill up your car with the car running. Evap control valve - purge the system.

What year is your car? Do you have cable throttle body or e-gas?
