For your reference we installed the VF Supercharger kit on a 2002 996 C4S with our Catbypass X-Pipe and Maxflo Mufflers, and the car made 408whp on our dynojet.
Leading evidence: 'Install vf supercharger kit' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'lowest 1999 c2 out there' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean car' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
They make a great product that is run with success on many, very happy 996/997 owners as well as many other makes/model vehicles up to and including the new Lamborghini Huracan.
Test on their supercharger kits and are designed within parameters

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

That's pretty cool man. I love your build.
I'm curious, how may miles do you have on the supercharger? I've never really considered these engines in stock form to be a good candidate for one from a reliability perspective.
What kind of 996 was it originally? It looks like a lot of work went into the car to get it to look and perform like a 996TT/GT3 mix.
Do you daily drive it or is it strictly a show car? What kind of HP #s is the car making? And if you don't mind sharing, what is the all in cost?
Its a 1999 c2. Dont drive it everyday. Its a show car. It also featured in the magazine Total 911 issue #65 back in 2010. Over 100K into the car. Yea im crazy for putting all that money into but I thought at the time it was right. A blast to dive!! Around 500HP 6 speed stick. Beast!!!
The ONLY thing I really dislike is the parka the instrument cluster is wearing. Show cars tend to have some terrible flaw, like a snow plow body kit or purple metallic paint or (*gag*) "carbon fiber" panels that tend to weigh just slightly more than the parts they replace. This one isn't bad. No stickers, no 997 facelift to hide the headlights...
Best of luck selling it for the asking price - I'd love to start seeing some higher-end 996 sales.
Overdone cars are typically no different than overdone Harleys. Guys just start throwing parts at them that individually are pretty nice, but the sum total usually just looks like a gawdy Christmas tree in July.
Congrats on the fantastic execution of a well thought out finished product. It looks great, and I'm sure goes like it looks. Not an easy task. And like others have mentioned, it's all about the details. You nailed it.
Say, a dyno sheet would be handy if you have one, since the supercharger is clearly part of the overall package (show AND go are such a nice combo...).
LOVE THIS! I have the GT2 bodykit with Faux side vents and did a self myth buster at the track this weekend. Uncovered (venting into rear fenders with no outlet)I could only manage a 1:32 at summit point. I taped them up and got all the way down to 1:28. Several times I was shifting into a higher gear and was much faster on the front straight. So... they are like big parachutes if you don't have them vented out. (Muffler coolers?)
I can always part the car out and make more money selling all the parts. People who have build porsches before know how expensive all my mods that I have done are. To build the same car in the same caliber will cost you over 100K! I think some one is getting a hell of a deal for a hell of a car!
Also Up for sale are these 19 inch I forged wheels. Were just freshly powder coated glossy black. I think they will also fit a 993. They came off my 996. Asking price is $1,600 + shipping.

Question for those who might know: On OP's front bumper, as on MANY cars I've seen with updated front bumpers, there are small openings on each end below the larger intake opening; it has always seemed weird to me that you can see daylight through 'em. Is there supposed to be a light or duct here, or are they intentionally open? And if the latter, for what purpose?
A number of years ago (too many to confess) I went down this route and lived to regret it. I am not alone. Nothing holds its value more than a solidly factory stock example of the model. I'd start stripping this overly done puppy and get back to what looks like a well-maintained, very nice low mileage example of the marque. I would not be surprised that it would go for the high end of current prices, maybe more. The whistles and bells would easily get you another $20k. Wisdom is expensive.
I wouldn't do anything until you can determine whether it will sell as-is for what you want to get out of it.
I spent a weekend returning a previous car to stock (removed intercooler, supercharger, injectors, throttle body, etc. etc.) only to have a friend basically BEG me to sell him the modified car for more than I could have gotten for the stock car + parts...so I spent another day putting the damn thing back together.
I suspect we have some years to wait before the purists start insisting on bone-stock examples.
5CHN3LL, on several cars (996 turbo front bumper lower splitter included) the openings are there to allow high pressure air to pass through, meant for the brake air guides (clipped onto lower A-arms) to catch and deflect this air to the brakes.
For your reference we installed the VF Supercharger kit on a 2002 996 C4S with our Catbypass X-Pipe and Maxflo Mufflers, and the car made 408whp on our dynojet. Accounting for 15-20% drivetrain loss, crank horsepower would be 470-490hp.
This has nothing to do with taking care of it. What it means is that this engine was not tested to see if it can stand up to the supercharger. A rather important info to a unsuspecting buyer.

I've ridden in the above mentioned Fabspeed tuned VF C4S. We went for a ride in my Fabspeed tuned 3.4 '99 C2 and then traded and I rode shotgun in the C4S.
Here are my impressions: when we took off I was expecting (but know I shouldn't have been) more impressive pickup lower. It felt like a robust stock motor. My car is about 2780lbs so it feels light with lightweight track wheels, rotors, race seats, no rear seats, etc. The C4S was a fully loaded, leather interior, with giant tires.
So we are riding along, then 4500rpm hit and the power built like a freight train all the way until redline. So, we hit the highway and did some pulls. Wow!!
You drive it like your normal 996, but when it starts to go in your 996, the VF Car is GONE. If you compare the power to a turbo, a turbo gives you that torque shove even if you are a gear high, but is gone by 6500rpm. The SC car builds power, but if you drive it like an NA car (rev it to 6800-7) the power is right there when you shift. It felt like a stock car driving on the streets to the highway. You could hear the SC a little over his MaxFlow exhaust until we were on it.
It Was Awesome. It still felt like a Porsche and was very tractable.
Sorry for the thread jack... but I think the SC is amazingly fun and puts the car into the expected speed category the looks promise.
No baseline as my client did the installation himself and brought it in for final dyno tuning. Drivetrain loss depends on the AWD car, it is never the same and often different from vehicle to vehicle. I'm certainly not going to take the hours of time to scientifically calculate the exact percentage on that particular car without a baseline haha, hence the approximation of drivetrain percentage we would expect to come from that car.
I beg to differ on that. VF did extensive testing on their supercharger kits and are designed within parameters to ensure longevity with the factory engine. They make a great product that is run with success on many, very happy 996/997 owners as well as many other makes/model vehicles up to and including the new Lamborghini Huracan. Proper maintenance and care of the engine and supercharger system would dictate perfectly acceptable longevity of the setup and a thrilled owner of the setup
Wow.. when you think Porsche parts are expensive... just realize that you can spend over a grand on a Lambo start button and its surround. No bull!

Those are typically China or HK made by a company called Rottec, as opposed to Porsche OEM vendor Recaro.
Might do well to refer to them when selling as “CGT-style” as the price difference from actual CGT seats is $10K+, especially if you are talking about a “$100K” build car.
